Album Review

Audium's John Anderson Anthology is a two disc set that should be avoided as it contains re-recordings of the country vocalist's biggest hits. Fans of John Anderson should seek out Greatest Hits on Warner Bros. which contains the original hit versions of "I'm Just an Old Chunk of Coal," "1959," "Wild & Blue," "Black Sheep," and the huge country/pop crossover tune from 1982, "Swingin'."

Sounds good, but not the real versions. It seems like iTunes is full of fake versions, and it is beginning to annoy me.

What a marvel!!!

I saw him in Florida last weekend. Amazing how polished his band is flat out beautiful work, wish more new guys would try to be this smooth and not sound so electronic. His vast vault of timeless classics will astound you. Often times when listening to the beatles you come across songs you never knew they did. Well John Anderson probably will make you do that atleast five times if youre new to him but listen to country radio that plays some classics. What a voice, the new versions are not some itunes gimmick, it is a master going back and putting in some very fine brush strokes to complete the picture. Great, great, great, stuff!!!

John Anderson's Greatest Hits .... Recycled

All the hits are here but not the original versions. This is not an iTunes thing. It was released commercially this way. John is great but you are better served to seek out the Greatest Hits and Greatest Hits II on Warner Bros and the Greatest Hits on BMG. No duplication of songs and all three have the original versions. If these were original versions, this would be a 5 star product. But, as is ... save your money.

Neo-honky tonker John Anderson was born in Apopka, FL, in 1955 and grew up listening to rock & roll, until he discovered country music at age 15 through Merle Haggard. He moved to Nashville in the early '70s, showing up at his sister's house with no warning, and worked a variety of odd jobs (including one as a roofer for the Grand Ole Opry) while playing clubs at night. Eventually, all the hard work paid off with a contract for Warner Bros., and Anderson released his first single in 1978. His...
