Reseña de álbum

It's no secret that the Leeds-based Kaiser Chiefs love the Jam. The band's 2005 excellent but uneven debut Employment was an infectious salute to all things mod and Brit-pop, boasting three solid singles ("I Predict a Riot," "Oh My God" and "Everyday I Love You Less and Less") that held great promise for future endeavors. On Yours Truly, Angry Mob, the group takes a little more time in establishing its pop acumen, offering no immediate pay-offs despite its insatiable thirst for FM melody. Opener and first single "Ruby," a rowdy, mid-tempo singalong that gets everything right but feels a little tossed-off and disposable, is indicative of Angry Mob's first half — "Heat Dies Down," "Love's Not a Competition (But I'm Winning)" and "Highroyds" have all of their cogs well-oiled and reliably dressed, but there's nothing here that warrants the inevitable second listen in which a perfectly constructed pop song's true genius is revealed. To that end, Angry Mob is creatively back loaded (though not genius), relying on a series of rewarding and occasionally subversive tracks like "I Can Do It Without You," "Learnt My Lesson Well," "My Kind of Guy" and closer "Retirement" to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump, revealing a band that is likely to continue pumping out albums with a few great songs on them until the requisite "Greatest Hits" collection arrives. [Yours Truly, Angry Mob is also available in an edition with three bonus tracks.]

When the Heat Dies Down, I'll be listening to the kaiser chiefs

What can i say? The kaiser chiefs are absolutely brilliant on this record. All of the songs are fantastic, and here are my favorites: Ruby: Great single, very catchy, 9/10 Angry Mob: Great hooks, love the bridge, 10/10 Heat Dies Down: I'd have to say the greatest song by the Kaiser Chiefs, right up there with 'Riot' and 'Ruby' 10/10 Highroyds: An okay melody, pretty good lyrics, overall a good song 8/10 Love's not a competition (but I'm winning): Great acoustic song, stuck in your head all day, good lyrics 10/10 Thank You Very Much: Not as great of lyrics, but this is an absolute wodnerful song, definitley one of the top 5 on the album 10/10 I Can Do It Without You: Another great acoustic number, great lyrics, love the song 10/10 My Kind of Guy: Mot that great of song, lyrics are more like a nursery rhyme 7/10 Everything is Average Nowadays: Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant! Absolutely wonderful song 10/10 Boxing Champ: I like it. Different. 8/10 Learnt my lesson well: really good song. i love the lyrics, and the verse is really catchy 10/10 Try your best: I think this is a slower, more melodic song that can really catch your eye. 8/10 Retirement: Great song. Absolutely great. 10/10

The Angry Mob is here!

Finally, it has arrived! I have been waiting for this to come out! The Kaiser Chiefs have done it again. The music has not changed much from the first album. Which is not such a bad thing because sometimes too much change is bad. My top picks are Ruby, The Angry Mob, Heat Dies Down, Love's Not a Competition(But I'm Winning),My Kind of Guy, Everything Is Average Nowadays, Boxing Champ ,Learnt My Lesson Well, and Try Your Best. The only thing I wish was different about this album is Boxing Champ, I wish it was longer because Nick (the drummer) has such a lovely voice in this song. All in all, it is a great album. If you love Kaiser Chiefs, download the whole album!5 cheers for Kaiser Chiefs!

Worth the Wait

It's been two years comming, but the Kaiser Chiefs second album is finally here in the U.S. I've been living off of the 30 second clips in the U.K. store for the last month and it's great to have the full length album. They've kept the same Kaiser Chiefs sound and the same intricate lyrics, but now with an edgier sound. I love the refference from Employment's I Predict A Riot and the refference to Employment with Retirement. It's a very solid album and it's hard to find a weak song. The best way to describe it would be 'Great Success!' For the reccord (litterally), the album version combines Boxing Champ with Learnt My Lesson Well, replaced Ruby Live in Berlin with The Angry Mob Live in Berlin, and added two songs, I Like To Fight and From The Neck Down.
