iTunes Review

An up-and-coming emcee out of Seattle, Sol (a.k.a. Solzilla or Sol Says) has been around for a minute and is probably best known for the three editions of his Dear Friends mixtapes. While his flow and cadence is heavily influenced by Kanye, his low-key, everyman lyrics stand out, as does the quality production from Jake One and others. As with Drake and his ilk, a lot of singing is on display here. Many tracks are influenced by the golden era, familiar without being overtly retro. Distinctly un-gangsta, pretty much all the rhymes here are about girls, hip-hop, and the ups and downs of everyday life. Sol's phrasing is tight, the wordplay is compelling, and the beats are on-point from start to finish. Check out "Stage Dive," "Rap Life," "Falling Stars," the freaky instrumental "Budo's Interlude," and the lead single, "2020."

Quality Hip Hip from the 206

I'm always proud to support Sol and the rest of the Rising Seattle Hip Hop Music Scene. 5 Stars for quality, substance, lyrics and overall Dopeness!

Seattle Hiphop

Sol, Solzilla, aka Sol Says is one of many artists in the Seattle hiphop scene that deserves attention. Macklemore, another prominent hiphop artist from the 206 was just nominated as a 2012 XL freshmen this year. Sol has Ray Dalton featuring on one of his new tracks "Need Your Love", Dalton toured with Macklemore along the entire West Coast earlier this year. Sol's new album has talent, dedication, and a lot of hard work put into it. Listen to "Stage Dive" and you'll get inspired, listen to "Need Your Love" and you'll get that warm feeling in your stomach, listen to "2020" while you're on the go and you'll get pumped up. Sol has just put out his best album thus far. Buy it.

I am in love with every single song on this album. A must have for sure!
