Back to form

This EP finds Dark Tranquillity back to form in a more melodic death metal delivery than We Are the Void. We Are the Void was a little faster and harder, but a little less melodic and more experimental, without the songs flowing together as good as they did in the past. Don't get me wrong, I love We Are the Void, but I like Character, Damage Done and Fiction better. This EP is more reminiscent of their albums Damage Done, Character and Fiction. Although We are the Void delivered for me, there was something missing from the album that normally comes with Dark Tranquillity. Anyway, if you like these guys, this EP is awesome. Preview the songs and you will not be disappointed. If you take this EP and the Fiction EP you can make an entire album out of them. An entirely great album! I am looking forward to their next album, and if this EP is any indication of the direction they are going, it is great.

Dark Tranquillity Evolution

Although I essentially agree with the other reviewer I really loved, 'We Are The Void' believing it to strike the perfect balance between melody and brutality, with phenomenal, catchy guitar work and very tasteful use of keyboards. Songs like "The Fatalist" "Shadow in Our Blood" and "I Am the Void" get stuck in my head for days.
This 'Zero Distance' EP sounds like a logical extension (or progression) from albums like 'Fiction' and 'Void'. Looking for new DT stuff later this month.
Please note the songs , 'To Where the Fires Cannot Feed' and 'Star of Nothingness' are on the Deluxe version of 'We Are The Void' so save yourself a few bucks and DL the other three.

Although the style was hardly confined to one place, there was an especially fertile scene centered in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, and Dark Tranquillity...
