Completely Unusable Regression, Avoid...
Myself and my daughter have flown hundreds of hours in Aerofly RC 7. We learned RC flying there, and it was one of our favorite pastimes and activities. When we upgraded to OS X Mojave, RC 7 became almost unusable because of low frame rates and jerky freezes. As a programmer, I know that Apple’s deprecation of OpenGL and introduction of Metal broke a lot of 3D programs, so I was was patient and hoped for a new version. And when RC 8 came out, I paid $80 for it. I have a brand new 2018 Mac Mini, but I can barely launch RC 8. The cursor becomes almost useable the moment you launch the program. At the lowest graphics quality setting, running the least graphic intensive levels, the best frame rate which I can achieve is 16 fps, which is 24 less than RC 7 before Mojave, and at least 10 fps than what I would need to make the program useable. As a programmer, it was always obvious to me that the authors were not using the Apple graphics and UI libraries properly, or perhaps not at all. Presumably they have a Windows-ported or legacy code base which they don’t want to or can’t rewrite, and it has finally broken in terms of usability on OS X. If you have RC 7, don’t upgrade, you are better off with what you have. Don’t buy this, it is worse than unusable. I would pay $400 to get back the flying experience I loved, but since that is off the table, please don’t patronize this third-rate excuse for a patch.
