Wind direction is reported by the direction from which it originates. For example, a northerly wind blows from the north to the south.
In the Faroe Island the wind direction have names that originates from the Viking ages. In total there are 32 different names for the direction.
This app is giving the name of a direction when the phone is pointed towards the wind. The Faroease word "Ættirnar" is plural for wind direction.
