16X - Magnifier
By Horizon Software I.T.
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
16X Magnifyer is the most powerful Magnifying Glass of the AppStore. You can get up to 16 magnification while maintaining image quality. Just tap the buttons on the menu to switch from 2 to 16 magnification of the image. You can take a photo with the current magnification and to enable or disable the viewfinder just touch the screen.
UPDATE AS OF 8/5/10
DON'T BUY THIS APP!!! IT DOES NOT WORK ON IOS4!!! THE DEVS ARE NOT RESPONDING TO THE REVIEWS NOR THE REQUEST I MADE TO UPGRADE THEIR APP!! YOUR MONEY WILL BE LOST FOREVER!!!
This is an old review--
If you think that this is a microscope; YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED
The 16x even the 8x magnification is way too blury! Is not bad... But is WORST than bad!
Buy it at your own risk!
Very misleading app. This app is ok for a reading tool but otherwise it's a very horrible app that misleads people that it can be used as a camera tool! Shame , shame!
This is an update, written April 8, 2010.
I have had the opportunity and time to use this magnifying app and I reassess it.
It is very, very powerful. It magnifies greatly. For example, if you want to magnify a keyboard key, it will enlarge it so greatly that it will easily fill the entire frame - at 8 and 16x.
If your needs are to magnify anything and photograph it, this is the best magnifying app I have found. Just make sure to hold it steady or to lean it against something.
In summary: it's a highy, highly powerful magnifying lens and the iphone camera works great through it. I'd rather it be priced at $1 than $2. But I recommend.
I just bought this magnifier, because I like to take super closeup photos of details, as well as to enlarge and photograph sections of photos.
Well, the app does certainly magnify, and it does autofocus. But it seems that at 8x and certainly at 16x it loses detail, but that's only because of camera movement, not from the app. I think the remedy, partly, is to make the iPhone absolutely still - which means a tripod is absolutely necessary. And, of course, since there is no tripod hole or adapter on the iPhone, one would have to be made or obtained.
I think with some effort - I.e., tripod - this can serve many needs. For example, you can take great shots of coins, stamps, etc., and for that you only need 4x or maybe 8x, so you can lean the iPhone.
I'll write an update when I have some more information. It's going to serve my needs. I'd rather see it at 99 cents, but no biggie.
