What I Need - Just Not Quite Right

The concept is a good one. It seems like it would be perfect. But, it kind of takes it a bit to extremes. I set up a list of sites and apps that I need to access in order to actually get my work for classes. But, it apparently doesn’t actually care that you set those things up and marked them as allowed. It blocks them instantly. So when I tried to get to the website for one of my classes, it wouldn’t allow chrome to open. This is despite the fact that I had both that particular site AND chrome on the allowed list. I then tried to delete that particular setting. Again, nope. Not allowed. Then I tried to quit the app. Nope. Deleted the app. Guess what, IT WAS STILL WORKING!! It wasn’t even on my computer anymore and it was still preventing me from doing anything. It turned my computer into a brick. I spent so much time getting everything set up and then trying to remove the thing so I could actually get work done that I killed about an hour of time just trying to work with this thing. So does it work well for blocking things? You bet. Can you have allowed sites and apps………meh that’s what they say but in reality, no. Will you be stuck with this app forever? It’s possible. I had to quit the app and delete it and restart my computer a couple times before it finally started letting me work on my computer again. I’m a little afraid to go hunting it down to see if it’s still there. I don’t wish to anger the beast.

Developer Response ,

Hi, please be sure not to confuse the "Block these apps" and "Allow only these apps" options. I suggest to try the latest 1Focus version and start with a short blocking duration to try things out. For help or a refund, please email

Everything I wanted and more!

I have had this app since the beginning, and it has always been what I needed. Furthermore, the developer is one of the best individuals I have worked with. During one of the updates, he switched to every app was allowed except ones you chose; I wrote him asking for the original design, and he sent me the original software in an email to ensure I had the app I wanted. Talk about customer service. Now, after this last update, I have the option of either in the exact same app. I use this program almost daily, and I could not be more happy with it. This is without a doubt the best ten dollars I have ever spent. I would absolutely purchase from this developer again as well!

Does what it says it does

I’ve noticed a trend with those leaving negative reviews - they are all from people who can’t seem to figure out basic concepts and simple software. This app is about as straight forward and easy to use as it gets, and does exactly what it says it does. It’s beautiful. It’s super light weight. And I like how when it blocks a website, it’ll take you to a page with a motivational quote of some kind about perseverance - which I thought was pretty cool. I’m currently working to finish my bachelors degree and this is the only thing that has actually helped me stay motivated and on task. 100% worth the $10. However, you do have to be smarter than a brick to use it.
