Would like to see updates to match advancing technology.

This app is definitely great in achieving its core mission — keeping your important passwords and account information secure in one place and easily accessible from seemingly endless platforms.

However, something that I would like to see in a future update would be more timely updates to keep up with technological advances occurring in phones/tablets/computers. In particular, I am not sure why there has not been an update to the desk top app for MacBook that would allow for sign-in using the fingerprint ID scanner. Fingerprint login for 1Password has been possible on my iPhone for a couple years now (I believe), and it is mildly annoying that the desktop version of the same app has not been updated to do the same after this much time. Granted, the fingerprint ID has not been available on the MacBook until this past year — but it has been out long enough that I would have hoped to see an update to 1Password by now.

Admittedly, my annoyance with this is fairly petty because as I first mentioned, the app does absolutely everything one could hope for in using it. But it would definitely be nice to see the desktop version of 1Password keep up with the mobile versions — especially since the desktop versions are a much more significant purchase than the mobile app.

Developer Response

Hey there PookieNinja, thanks so much for the kind words and for taking the time to leave us a review. It would appear that we have not done nearly a good enough job tooting our own horn as we should have. One of the things that we pride ourselves on with 1Password is our adoption of the latest and greatest technologies that Apple has to offer. You mentioned our excellent track record of this on iOS, but the same holds true on the Mac as well. When Apple released the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and Touch ID back in November of 2016 we were there on day one with an update to 1Password that supported both the Touch Bar and Touch ID.

To enable Touch ID for 1Password, just open and unlock 1Password, bring up the Preferences window from the 1Password menu in the menu bar, click on the Security tab, and look for the Touch ID section.

I hope this helps, but if there's anything else I can do please don't hesitate to email me at

Desert Island must have app...

There are just some things in life that are indespesible. The love of a good partner, the laughter of your children, food and/or drink… and of course this app. Why this app? Because in an age where everything is digitized and every website does it’s best to protect you from the morons who seek to do wrong, it’s really impossible to remeber all the rules per website that make it harder (smarter) not to just have one password any longer. And keeping track of all those is a near impossibility. Enter 1Password. I’ve probbaly been using this app for at least 10 years and not only are thier updates and upgrades frequent, they almost always are value-added. And while this review may come across as someone who is a “friend in court” and/or someone who’s been given somehting for their time or comments, it’s simply not the case. I just wholly appreciate apps that set out to make my life easier and succeed in that goal tenfold. This and dropbox are always the first two apps I install when I upgrade my iPhone and this held true tonight when I just switched over the the iPhone X.

The Best of The Best and The Most Important App I Have

I've had 1Password for a several years and couldn't be happier with it. It's on my PC, Mac Book Pro, iPhone, and iPad. It works well with all devices. If I add something new it's immediately and automatically added to all of my devices. If I modify an existing password or note, it's modified across all devices. The password auto-generator for new passwords is nice. You select how long you want the password and select how many letters, numbers, and special characters you want. You can go with any mix of these three or have a weak password with only all letters, all numbers, or all special characters. The ability to copy and paste a logon and password is a very nice and easy feature. I have never had a complaint with this app and have no idea how they can make it any better. It's the most used app on all of my devices as well as my favorite. There's no way that I could live without this app. I don’t recall ever seeing an app with such a high ratio of five stars compared to all the other ratings combined. Their customer support is also outstanding.
