What's New in Version 5.4

The Convenience Edition

1Password was created because the world needed an easier, more convenient way to stay secure in today’s technological landscape. In keeping with that tradition of convenience, we present to you an update designed to make your life a little less complicated!
- Large-type option for passwords makes them easier to read.
- Things change. Now your secondary vaults’ passwords can, too.
- The Top Layout View is better than ever.
- Security updates to address XARA vulnerabilities.

Large type
If you’ve ever squinted at a password because you have to enter your it on a device without 1Password support, this is for you! 1Password for Mac now can now display passwords in Large Type to make them easier to read. Now it’s easy to look at your Mac and enter your password on an Apple TV or read your Wi-Fi password off to guests. Oh, and if your bank asks you for the 4th, 10th, and 12th digits of your passwords, you’ll be happy to see that we’ve numbered each character to make those easier for you to find.

Change secondary vault password
Almost nothing is forever, and now that includes your secondary vaults’ passwords in 1Password for Mac. Thanks for all of the requests for this feature!

Refined top layout
If you like to keep a classic-looking layout, you’ll be happy to know we’ve made some improvements based on your feedback. Your items’ Rich Icons will be displayed, you can add and remove columns, and 1Password will remember how you left things.

Using new tools available in the latest OS X update, we’ve redesigned the communication pathways between the 1Password browser extension and 1Password mini to ensure that your data stays secret and secure. We’ll have a blog post on this soon, so stay tuned to for more details!

1Password never prompts you for a review because we value your workflow too much to interrupt it. If you feel generous or have a couple of minutes now that you don’t have to squint at your passwords, please leave a review. It makes a huge difference to us. Thank you in advance!

Customer Reviews

Back in 2009, I realized that I needed a way to store passwords. I was cheap thus bought mSecure. It served me well over the next few years. I was mpressed enough with mSecure, I invested in all their platforms. Fast forward 2015; while mSecure is still quite capable, lack of updates addressing bugs and new features drove me to look for something fresh. I picked up 1Password on sale for $25 and ported my 150+ passwords over the course of the next few days. in my opinion, the extra work (porting passwords) was well worth it. I appreciate frequent updates. 1Password looks native to Yosemite and you can’t beat the bells and whistles that 1Password offers such as 1Password mini, browser integration, and rich icon which all work amazingly well. I also appreciate being able to have multiple vaults all unique vault passwords. Lastly, the ‘security audit’ feature is priceless as it breaks down passwords by weakness and age. I suppose if i were to buy this app today for $50, it’s still a value. One feature I do find a bit lackluster is iCloud sync. It appears only the primary vault can by synced to iCloud. I hope this changes to support all vaults in the future. still, worth of 5 stars as it’s a great product by a great team of developers. I still believe mSecure to be a 4.5 star application across all platforms and worth the investment if you’re short on cash. Otherwise, this is best value.

Best of Class - Must Have for Security

The idea of this app is that you will only have to remember 1Password, a master password if you will. This app goes far beyond just keeping a list of your passwords locked behind military grade encryption, it allows you to easily save new logins right from your browser as you enter them the first time! In fact, you can let it choose a secure password for you, all customizable!! But the best part is, you can now go to that site, and with just your 1Password, easily login, without remembering the password of that particular site! You can sync across your devices, and if you have your iPhone, or that other one you can easily look up a password whereever you are, if you need to access a site from someone else’s computer. This is the ONLY app you need to manage passwords and literally never forget a password again. The app UI is well thought out, and makes online life much much easier. Basically, you have to remember 1 and only 1 password ever again. This is so brilliant and so well executed you will never ever need another password manager again, or another app. And to top it off, these guys are great, and take care of their customers.

Grreat App, great customer service

I’ve been using this app on my Imac, Air, and my Iphones for about a year now. Overall I’m happy with the app. Sometimes it doen’t fill in the blanks correctly but I’ve learned how to copy/paste from within the app. I would have rated it 4 stars but their customer support turned out to be 5+ stars. I had a 3rd part app that hi jacked my keychain and screwed up my whole Imac including 1password. Lars called me and spent an hour on the phone with trying to fix it. No luck, but even Appple could not fix the problems without wiping the hard drive clean and reinstalling OS X due to to a corrupted admin logim. 1password went out of their way to fix a problem their app did not even create. This app adds an extra layer of protection over Apples password keychain as another password is needed. I keep all my passwords stored in here instead of in Apples keychain. As well the Icloud sync feature works great. I highly recommend. Besides a great app grreat customer serivce is hard to come by these days.
