Ratings and Reviews
Great app, GO ROGER!!!
Why would anyone give this app a bad review.. it's free, when you get something free and to top it off, it ends up being a quality preduct and you still ask for more and complain, then you lead a very sad life.
This is a great, FREE app full of US Open goodness, it's nothing out of the ordinary, all of this is stuff you could find in the espn website, they even have an iphone version of the website and it's great but this app packages it all up neatly and it gives you just one more reason to show off your phone to your friends and act all cool following the US open on your phone.
I also got the wimbledon app and I think there was a french open app too I dont remember but if there was, I got it.
Good, good stuff.. so sad we delete it in 2 weeks though, sports in general should get the memo, whenever there is a big event like this weather it is a fight or a game or a race, they should release a free official app before the event and keep updating it until the day of the event or in the case of tennis, throughout the event, it's a great way to keep people informed and hooked.
At last... Roger, please make it 6 in a row.. I know it's hard to ask but please do it, at least keep your ridiculously impossible semifinal streak alive
Room for improvement...
Concept-wise, this is a great app. Easy to navigate, plenty of useful info, and the live video addition is awesome....but the app crashes way too much. It doesn't seem to matter which iPhone you have. I'm on the 3GS and the app crashes consistently. I've noticed in the reviews that people with the iPhone 4 have the same issue. And it's not just while watching live video. I was trying to simply follow the scores during the Roddick match yesterday and it was crashing left and right. Crashes seem to happen less when using wifi but not by much. Also, the push notifications eat battery like mad. I turned the notifications off entirely with the exception of notifications for one player and it just DRAINS the battery something fierce. Most apps with pushes seem to do that though so I don't think it's a flaw unique to this app. Overall, it's not bad but considering that there's no other option, it could be worse.
Good functionality, layout needs work
app has great functionality - I like that you can quickly see who is playing right now and watch the matches live right from the app. It's easy to see the schedules and the draws. The layout needs some work - the buttons are really tiny and difficult to hit sometimes (on an iphone). It takes me a few tried to change the date on the schedule because the button is so tiny. Also, some of the players are missing pictures - is it really that difficult to find a picture of a professional tennis player? It would be nice if you could click on the player's picture and get their bio.
