Worth what you pay for it
I didn’t expect a lot from this, but I was still disappointed. As another reviewer points out, it does have a smart search facility, but there’s no way to know the range of icons it provides. I tried “police” and “hospital” and got good icons, but then tried “Jupiter” and “Frodo” and came up empty-handed. Same thing with “kangaroo”, “turtle”, “mammal”, “horse”, “anger". It would have been better if there were a way to browse a list of categories, or something to give an idea of how to use it effectively.
It is also terribly slow! One search for “photo” took over 30 seconds to respond. There was no indication whether the program was doing anything or was just crashing.
But the killer realization came when it took over two minutes searching for “anger”. I opened up Activity Monitor and the thread it was using was marked in red. Clearly, something was going seriously wrong with this application. I would advise others to stay away from this program; its behavior is very strange. I deleted it just to be safe.
We've heard you and added the categories back in 2014; not to say the number of icons rose from 2000 to 43000 so we have jupiters, kangaroos, turtles, horses, mammals, and various forms of anger. Moreover, you can drop us a line on our website and we'll do Frodo too, free and just in few days if your request receives few votes. Sorry we can respond only now, when Apple permitted. P.S. It works just fine in Sierra.
I agree that a browser for icons would be nice. When you delve into the app package, you can find the icons neatly nestled into folders, but it’s a lot of work to find something through through Finder. So I almost wrote this app off.
But then I found myself working on a web site, thinking about mobile design, and wondered how icons might work for navigation. It was easy to find perfect ready-made graphics with this app, and the results are stunning.
Thank you :) And yeah, we've added the categories yet in 2014. Sorry we can respond only now, when Apple permitted. P.S. It works just fine in Sierra.
AWESOME!!!, but it needs just 1 more ability.
Can you add the ability to insert an icon from the app into a Facebook status? That would be so awesome because I would be able to use the icons as emojis instead of as images!!! For example, I wouldn’t need to upload an icon from the app as an image in a Facebook status. I would just be able to insert an icon from the app into the Facebook status by double-clicking on the icon while the app is open!
We did that! And we did a web version of that, icons8.com/pedro
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
