You set up a list of tasks, and a length of time for each of them. When you start the timer, it will tell you when to move on to the next task.
The task list is controlled entirely with gestures; a simple and natural way to use the app.
The display is minimal but attractive and it still shows you everything you need to know:

The first and only app so far to get me working
I (like other reviewers I've seen) have ADHD, and out of all apps and things I've tried, this is the only one so far that has kept me on task and actually doing the things I intended to do. The features are solid, and the app works for both once-only activities like a morning schedule, and repeating tasks like studying while taking breaks.
One thing I think that could be added is the ability to make/alter folders of lists for better organization (like a folder for specific days, different morning schedules, or different kinds of tasks like repeating vs. once-only). This would make it easier to organize the lists when there are many of them, because there are many things you can use this app for :) another nice change would be greater control over adding or subtracting time while the clock is running. There are times when I want to add back two or three minutes, but if the time left is high enough, I can only add/subtract five or ten (or more) minutes, which is a bit frustrating.
Other than these, this app is exceptionally solid, and is definitely worth the download. It's made a difference, and I'm (slowly but surely) getting more and more done with my time. 4.5/5 (rounded to 4) stars in my book.
Update of my review a couple of years ago
I'm a huge app junkie. I've had this app for several years now, and continue to come back to it again and again as my most effective and motivating productivity app. Have used it in a number of different ways, but it has been most useful and helping me finally get through some dreaded projects. I'll make a list for the day, make sure I have plenty of pleasurable activities listed, then sprinkle throughout the days items a number of short time periods to work on the dreaded task. That way I can gradually get through what I'm most avoiding. This method has gotten me through a number of projects I thought I would never be able to make myself do. I can always do what I HATE when I know it's for a very brief time - and then I will be forced to move on since I have the auto pause turned off
It helps me START when I have a multitude of tasks and can't get myself to even "put my toe in the water", and it helps me SWITCH to another task rather than getting hyper focused on one to the detriment of everything else that needs to be done. Often I start with 10 minutes of something like reading just to get myself started with the whole process. Then I'm fine.
This app has actually increased the quality of my life. Really. I stay at home (and do a little working from home as well), and since using this the amount that I get done on a daily basis has increased...a lot. I no longer get stuck on a single task or project, wondering where the day went at the end of the day. I am often (and by that I mean always) an over-eager list maker, and usually end up doing half of what's on my list. However, that is a huge improvement. Putting things the list that I just do not want to do, even simple things like making phone call, get done. "Make dentist appointment", 5:00. Done. Also of note is that I have adult ADD. Small tasks like that are ridiculously hard for me to get done because of my tendency to get overwhelmed by to-dos and then ending up doing nothing. Or procrastinate...for months. The app is also very simple, easy to use, and I have never had a problem with it. So, thank you app makers! You have made it onto my gratitude list many times.
