One Problem... Otherwise Great...

Woodstockblues

Thanks for your response! I will immediately disable RedState in my preferences. Back to Five Stars. But I really think that RedState should go... IMHO. // I like this app! I really do. But RedState has GOT to go! That communist rag has more than once disrespected our country, our flag, and our police/military/first responders. Get rid of RedState and it’s back to Five Stars! // Compiles Conservative News from sources across the country. Got it here in this iPhone app, and also on my Twitter feed on my laptop. Just compiles, not responsible for the content. No WND or Daily Caller, but those are available as separate apps.

Developer Response

Please note you can filter out some news providers yourself by choosing the back arrow on the upper-left of the screen, then the settings icon in the same location, and then choose "Filter sites to display". Uncheck "RedState", or other sites you wish to not get news from, and, poof!, gone. Also, we've looked into WND and Daily Caller, and we felt the intrusive advertising on both was incompatible with our desire to create a friendly customer experience. If they change their ad policy, we'll look at them again. Thanks for your feedback, and we hope for that fifth star.

Two Problems; One A Show Stopper

SsnowSnake

Used this a lot for 2-3 months. Great place to get all kinds of news worth reading! Also easy to forward links to friends/family!

Two complaints, one of which is a show stopper. First, I hated it didn't let me go to a 'reader view.' If I forwarded a link to myself, I could go to the news site and there'd usually be an option for a reader view, which is MUCH easier to read on my phone. Hopefully they'll fix that soon.

But the show stopper is, as I used it I got more and more popup ads. Till on some sites I got one about five seconds after I clicked on a story, every time! Annoying, but fairly easy to kill with the X on the popup. Then the pop ups started to not have an X to kill them! Couldn't navigate; the only option was to click OK on the ad. Which I will NEVER do. The only way to kill them was to kill 63red Con. When I retuned to the story, lather rinse repeat.

Since I can't read the stories I want to read any more there's no reason to have this app on my phone, taking up valuable real estate.

It's now deleted.

Developer Response

We agree the news sites include too many ads, and some there are far too intrusive. Sadly, we don't control the ads on the news sites. We've had several conversations with news providers about this, had some success in getting the volume reduced, and we also dropped a few news providers because of plainly obtrusive and offensive ads. Please note you can filter out some news providers yourself by choosing the back arrow on the upper-left of the screen, then the settings icon in the same location, and then choose "Filter sites to display". We hope you'll edit out the sites you find troublesome. We hope you'll give the app a second consideration.

Could be better

Dave Bergman

Although I enjoy most of the content I have a problem with so many negative articles from Red State. I understand that Erickson has a problem with President Trump, but the hysterical nature of many of his posts are disturbing. I know there are other contributors out their who would be a lot more positive and may even have the blinders off by now. Generally though, 63 Red is now first post I read every day - so, thank you.
