Would be great if it was customizable...
I desperately want to like this app. I like games, I like superheroes, and while I don't much like exercising I like things that make exercising more enjoyable. I was really hoping the Superhero Workout would do that. Unfortunately, the app lacks a critical feature: the ability to exclude certain exercises from a workout. People with mobility-limiting injuries (or who just live on an upper floor) may not be able to do certain exercises, but the only way to skip those exercises is to sit idle waiting for the timer to count down (or wave your hand a bunch to try to convince the motion sensor you're doing reps). At a bare minimum, the app should provide a "Skip" functionality for each exercise in a workout so you can skip the ones you can't do; and should show a complete list of all exercises in a workout prior to starting the workout, so you can see before starting a workout how many exercises in it you're able to do. Ideally, the app should have a selectable list of exercises so users can tailor their workouts to their own bodies and environment.
+1 star because I love the concept; -3 stars because I can't use it due to a critical design flaw. :(
good concept, bad execution
First of all, app is inconsistent on delivering the biggest promise of counting reps via camera. While it usually double counts, some exercises don't use the counter on the other hand. And you're on your own with calibrating the camera, again which does not have any indicator on whether it "sees" you properly. Some kind of calibration indicator has to be implemented asap.
It also fails on reporting to the Apple Health front, which is a huge bummer when the selling point is the precision and automation. Just integrate it already.
And there is no support whatsoever for any kind of feedback. I don't need the storyline, I'm in for the functions. So, I don't think this is worth the money until these issues are resolved.
Seriously just great
Okay, so for an unfit 16 year old like me who's only into video games, drawing, an being an unproductive potato, this app is fantastic.
As said 16 year old girl who's been out of PE since sophomore year and doesn't get exercise elsewhere, can't drive to a gym, and doesn't have the motivation do will myself into exercising, this app is fantastic.
I love love love playing video games, with a preference for first person shooters, and this is like the ultimate first person shooter with the added bonus of eventually giving me the body that makes me look like I don't sit at my computer for hours at a time.
It's so great and honestly fun, and so easy because all you need is a chair and a wall.
The Six to Start apps are extremely innovative, and it is so cool how they utilize functions of your phone.
