Love, LOOVVVVEEE this game but....
I've downloaded and played other various pool game apps (on both my iPhone 6+ and 7+), and REALLY enjoyed playing this one best. But there are a couple things that irks me a bit. 1) Although the app gives you a choice to have the cue strength bar off on the side or bottom of the screen, it still at times gets in the way. There have been quite a few time I've accidentally hit the strength bar and released the cue while attempting to set up my shot. 2) And this is my BIGGEST gripe - the time thingy. I HATE when it tells me that it's waiting for an response from my opponent. Plus it makes you wait a few moments for your opponent to 'respond' (whatever that means), after the game is finished. I can understand giving people X amount of time to take their turn, but does the game need to pause and wait for a response? 3) The game is loaded with bots and fake players. Although playing with an bot doesn't bug me to much but I do wish there was a way the app developers could make the chat option unavailable to them. During games with bots the chat bubble is forever popping up, getting in the way of playing the game. I also notice about 80% of the players in the tournaments are bots. And lastly 4) while I can understand needed to accumulate $$$ to buy better cues and all but why the "recharge fee"? Overall it's a pretty good app, like I said. I wish they're was a way I could set my own chat words.
A so, so game.
I am an avid pool player in real life and I don't this app to be perfect. But I would expect a lot more than what you get. Especially if you spend any of your hard earned money on it. You will not get what you think you're paying for. They give you a cue to start with. It has no attributes. You cannot get any 'action' on the cue ball whatsoever. So you play a bunch of games in an effort to win a better cue that you can get at least a little draw and English with. Or, you spend your money to buy their 'money' to buy a better cue. So now you think you own a better cue. But you don't. You're only renting it. After so many shots they charge you to keep using it.
Additionally, the game has some serious flaws. Example: You pay 10,000 chips to play a game. You break and make a couple balls. So it's your shot again. But first a message comes up that says 'connection is slow, please wait.' So you sit there waiting for them to give you your cue so that you can shoot. You're viewing the table waiting with nothing happening when a message appears saying your opponent won! WHAT??? It was my shot! I was waiting as instructed. That had my cue so that I couldn't shoot. How could I lose? But you lose your chips with no recourse.
My advise: Play for fun. But don't invest one dime in this app. It is a major ripoff.
Great execution and playability
This game is well done and the devs have made it a good multiplayer game. I have been able to get my kids interested in pool and learning the strategy of the 'leave' and how important it is. If you invest a little $ into the game you can get some pretty decent cues that all have different attributes. These can be challenging to switch to as they all have a different response to follow and english. Once you settle on a style you may need to relearn your edge which adds to the game. This is definitely the best pool game I have played across all platforms in many years. There are some frustrations in the algorithms for successful shots and adding complexity to shots that would be harder in real life (suggestion for the devs) e.g. A bridge from the middle of the table with a ball in front should be diminished in its successful trajectory. As I he to high levels the game is still fun but losing it's overall allure. In the end I have found myself seeking out, finding and playing real billiards more in my local. The strategy of the game sticks and my kids understand the bigger harder parts of the game while they work on basics. Highly recommended.
