Featuring stunning art by Jaume Illustration, a half-million word script by Meg Jayanth, original music by Laurence Chapman, and built using the same inklewriter engine that powers our critically-acclaimed Sorcery! series, 80 DAYS is an interactive adventure created by your choices, on the fly, and is different every time you play.
Playing as Phileas Fogg's loyal valet, Passepartout, you must balance your master's health, your finances, and the time, as you choose your own path from city to city all the way around the world. Bribe your way onto early departures, but don't let yourself go bankrupt or you'll be sleeping rough and begging for aid! Trade items for profit, and collect the equipment for the conditions you'll face: but too much luggage will slow you down...
80 DAYS is a breakneck race, with an in-game clock that never stops running. Trains, steamers, hot-air balloons, boats, camels, horses and more leave and arrive minute by minute.
Every city and journey is narrated via an interactive story where you control every action. Will your choices speed you up - or lead you into disaster? Will you earn Fogg's trust and respect? Will you uncover the secrets and short-cuts that can shave days off your time? Murder, romance, rebellion and intrigue await!
The app is network-connected, with a live feed that shows you the position of all the other players of the game, their routes, triumphs and disasters. You can race to be the fastest - or look ahead to learn the secrets of the world.
Share your own journey with friends, and load other's routes directly into your app so you can race head-to-head.
80 DAYS is a complete experience, with no in-app purchases, and was made by a core team of just four people. If you enjoy it, please leave a rating, and check out our Sorcery! series.
What's New in Version 1.2.1
Since our massive content update which opened up new routes all over the Americas and the rest of the world, we have made a few bug fixes:
- Fix for iPhone 6S bug where moving items in luggage was impossible
- Story fixes and improvements
An incredible work of art.
If you are one who is bored of the same garbage the App Store keeps churning out, demanding IAPs and really adding nothing new to the table, look no further than 80 Days. For one, it's original. There are choose-your-own adventure games out there already, such as A Dark Room, but this one achieves something more. It feels like a game, while also being an engrossing, emotional story of two people simply trying to go around the world. Along the way, you are met with certain choices that affect the rest of the playthrough. All the while, you have RPG elements such as money, inventory, and trading that give it a video game feel. Even if you are not one for reading, and it is text heavy, you will forget all about that and become immersed in the decisions of these two brave adventurers. Tens of hours of gameplay are offered here. I've played through twice (I circumnavigated the world in 79 days on my 2nd try) and cannot wait to play it through again. I see myself playing through at least 5 times to maybe see all the game has to offer, but I don't know if even that will suffice. That's 15 hours of gameplay (or more) for $5. I'm very stingy yet still extremely satisfied with my purchase. Thank you for this amazing game, Inkle.
Update: I've now played through the game 6 times (my record is 64 days) and am still amazed by this game. I've put in at least 20 hours so far. Thank you Inkle for the update that added many more cities and much more text. 6/5 stars.
I play every day
I have been playing every day for more than two months, and perhaps have gone round the world with Passepartout and Fogg a hundred times, perhaps more. I continue to discover new storylines, ways of playing, and nuances in the characters and their circumstances. The story has at times genuinely moved me. At the outset I expected it to be twee, but it gets heavy often. It is not merely a playful steampunk remix of the Jules Verne novel. There is serious literary intent behind it, and which the writing is good enough to put across. It should also say that it's a lot of fun. I hope the creators will continue to add new storylines and locales to keep me from having to put it down, eventually.
Love this game!
I have probably been around the world (in the game) 50 times, at least. Passpartout can be an adventurous person, which leads to adventurous outcomes, or he can be cautious and proper, which leads to a different experience. I have killed Fogg once, been taken hostage, had several affairs (don't be too picky about gender--Passpartout isn't), and traveled secret Artificier's routes (sorry, not telling!). What fun!
I'm very glad they added new routes in North America--hello, Calgary! (But if you get the chance, don't say no to the handsome youth in New Orleans!)
