What's New in Version 4.0.2
This update includes bug corrections
This is an update to what was written earlier. I'm pleased to see that as of the past two weeks or so the addition of lighter news has been added back to "Five Things". In the grand scheme this is not earth shaking but so pleasant to ease one into the early morning. Unfortunately there's are no links to videos but it helps to have a brief summary to look up later.
The reporting and up to date news is really appreciated. I check this app throughout the day.
I read select news, opinion, and occasionally entertainment segments daily. The writing is comprehensive and informative. I must admit that my favorite start to the weekday was "5 Things" , which provided a good summary of top news stories to watch as the day continued. I must admit I miss the fact that the compiler of this segment no longer includes the video clips of assorted animal and people antics captured in the act of doing something funny. What a lovely touch of comic relief that was from the grim events here and elsewhere in the world. Please bring that back.
All of the above still stands but I would add that the intrusive CSX ad that forces one to wait as it covers the lead story and then plays out the extent of its animation is annoying and time consuming when one has only a few minutes to read.
Please add captions!
Overall I like the app pretty well. What I find frustrating are the stories that contain or are only a panel of pictures. Yesterday's "article" titled Networks swing the axe is a great example. That's the entire print for the article. We then get thirty some pictures with absolutely no captions. While I have to assume that these photos represent shows that have been cancelled...I have no idea who most of these people are or in what show they appear so for the most part the story is irrelevant.
Another typical example is when someone noteworthy dies. We are treated to an article about whoever died again followed with a bunch of pictures of people again most of whom I have no idea who they are.
used to be a great app
I have changed my review from one star to three. They clearly are making efforts to improve it. i noticed that the night of the Paris attacks and the day after it was working perfectly. But after that it still freezes quite a bit. However, if you are patient, and continually go back to what you are trying to watch it eventually works. So they are obviously. trying. Lets hope they continue to work on it, as it is still frustrating that most of the time it freezes a lot before you can get it to work.
