"At this price point, this app should be on all iPod Touches and iPads that are used in science classrooms." - says http://padsandpods.blogspot.com/2011/12/life-cycle-app.html ** In New and Noteworthy by Apple *** Selected as top 10 for students of all ages -- http://connectwithyourteens.blogspot.com/2010/10/10-more-iphone-apps-for-students.html ** Understanding life cycles is a integral part of every school curriculum.
A life cycle is a period involving different stages of a species from birth through reproduction. As kids grow, they need to know and understand how life starts, morphs through various stages into a adult and how life starts all over again. Various processes also exist in nature, that are also called life cycles since they follow a systematic flow through stages at regular intervals.
This Life Cycles App is created by a team of high school students, educators, and parents in Texas. It is easy to use, intuitive and most importantly, provides educational content with great illustrations and narrations for students, schools and montessori's.
Appropriate for children ages 2-10+.
Following life cycles are covered in this app at this moment:
- Frog Life Cycle
- Water Life Cycle
- Butterfly Cycle
- Plant Cycle
- Moon Phases
- Nitrogen Cycle
- Oxygen Cycle
- Rock Cycle
+ Colourful illustrations with highlights at each stage (tap/swipe to go to next stage)
+ Detailed kid oriented descriptions for each stage
+ Narrations (by a elementary school teacher) per lifecycle stage

Good information here, but it basically consists of pictures of cycles with a person reading fairly dry text. My kid loves science, as do I, but we both found this dull. My kid can do science far above grade level with an engaging text or interface. This is neither. It is like a textbook read aloud.
This is a great app for small kids to comprehend but question time only has questions about the frog life cycle. I think this app should seriously be updated
A perfect app for 1st Graders. Simple graphics, clear diagram and the talk is a bonus because kids learn by imitation.
