Ratings and Reviews
Just some minor changes
This app provides great practice for students. It aligns with the common core standard 2.OA.1 very well. The music, however, was irritating and a student would be distracted and probably annoyed by the music. The instructions were very clear and the options in the settings menu are nice. However, I would like to see an option where a teacher could put in their own problems, this gives the teacher freedom in the number that he or she choses for the students to work on. Another change I would make is so that the students could write anywhere on the problem, instead of limited to the small box at the top in the case of addition, and just the top half for subtraction. This would allow the students to do the problem in his or her own way and not feel restricted. This app would be a lot of fun for students and a good way to practice. However, some of the things done on this app could be easily done on a whiteboard. Some of the improvements would make the app even more worthwhile and a great tool for teachers.
Ok, could be better
This app does exactly what it says: it provides the digital equivalent to a pad and paper for practicing regrouping with addition and subtraction. It does come up with the problems allowing one to select number of problems, number of digits, timing parameters, type of problem (add or subtract), and regrouping requirement. It would be nice if it provided some coaching or at least what the regrouping script should look like after an answer is given.
The fact that the music cannot be disabled in app, with the volume controls, or the mute switch is bizarre and makes the app nearly unusable as it quickly becomes torturous. I would have given the app 3 or 4 stars except for this issue.
Once, I was able to mute the sound using the mute switch after switching back and forth between the app and the settings and toggling the side switch settings. I haven't yet figured out the exact sequence. I tried to contact the developers about these issues but the links to the developer sites from the app store bring me to a placeholder site.
The most irritating music I've ever heard in my life and there's no way to turn it off! Hate it because of this!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
