App Initially Would Not Allow Logging In or Connection

During the first week after the latest update the app initially made it impossible to login, and afterward was not able to connect to provide information about savings or discounts. It worked mostly well in this regard until the update. Then a constant “Cannot Connect”notification emerged, which was impossible to correct. All of my other apps had no problem connecting to my WiFi and internet.

The developer suggested I delete the app and then re-open it, but that if not an option with iPhone iOS users since deleted apps are stored on the cloud, and when re-installing, it simply restores the previously deleted app.

After about a week of trying, the app finally started to work again, but I am uncertain it will continue to be fully operational. User login and connection problems after the latest update were especially pernicious. Hopefully future updates will be better executed.

Not up to AARP Standards

Tried to sign in with my existing user info and password. The app does not allow the same values as the AARP web site and therefore tells the user invalid, etc. A very juvenile app mistake for such an outstanding organization! It is setting standards that are not addressed by the mother ship. Tail wagging the dog syndrome.

Update to review, after info from app developer; who seems to be very young and convinced I'm old and therefor to stupid to use the technology. They forget who taught them or developed it to start with... started in computers in 66... before PC's & Cell phones. Forty years with phone company.
App is still broke and yes it works from the internet with multiple browsers... errors on logging in and will not let me use my current password. This is unchanged.

Developer Response

Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. The information you use to sign in on aarp.org is the same info we require on the app. Be sure that you're using the correct password. You can also reset your password using the "Forgot Password" option.

Too many graphics!

I prefer the AARP Member Advantage app over this one. Just hope they keep the old one.

This one has too many graphics when I’m looking for discounts and the text gets lost on the page. Plus, it gives me discounts to places not even close to my location even though I am using the location service. I don’t need to see a pancake breakfast spread across the screen and then italic text of “Denny’s” under it. Just text is fine. When traveling, we don’t have time to scroll through all the graphics to find a place to eat.

Not a fan of this one-please keep the older app!
