Beautiful design but buggy
The response regions in the app often get jumbled up. This leads to the wrong voice overs and sounds playing on a given screen - creating a worst-case for learning (e.g. V content plays on W, X on Y). This seems to happen when little hands may rapidly tap or a single finger and side of hand or knuckle create an unintended multitouch gesture. My 3 year old has played the app over a dozen times in the past few months and this problem has surfaced EVERY time before the alphabet has been traversed. It really is a shame because sound, animation, and design are delightful. But the repeated buggy execution results in child frustration and botched learning. I recommend the programmer test the app with several preschoolers and I'm sure this will surface. Have tried on first and third gen iPads but bugs showed up in both. Good luck. I want you to get this right because the app would otherwise be a winner.
Our 6-month old loves it already
The white background throughout the app makes the little characters pop-out and be the main focus to kids, even to babies. We have a 6-month old and she laughs with the little characters that move, go in and out the frame, move fast or slow. We point to her the letters and she tries to touch them as well. So far she goes crazy for the owl and panda bear!
Needs to let you easily fast forward through letters and skip animations.
It would also be helpful if there were small active areas of the screen that the parent could use to navigate the alphabet. It gets annoying when my two year old accidentally swipes at the wrong time or in the wrong direction and we have to watch the same letter animation twice, with no way to skip it. Cute app, but it could use more control over the content.
