Great Concept and Game
Ace Combat series was originally coded for the Sony Playstation 2, years ago. Later the game was ported to the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) named Ace Combat X - Skies of Deception. I played the latter on the PSP and the game was excellent. But with a major difference - you controlled the jets with the joystick, giving you greater more surer control. So about a month ago July 2013 I purchased it here for the iPhone. The game was playable, easy to control the flight, weapons and if you crashed into the sea or ground it just skipped, the plane was not destroyed, you could still fly up to complete your mission. Sort of like a easy level. No problem, I even purchased a jet. Now about a week ago the update came out after I completed the game. It was fun and challenging like the original. Now the update which we have here is not at all the same. All new missions (same jets) and much more difficult to fly. When you set your calibration it was quite flexible. The planes now are more sensitive, do spins and such and the game is more challenging to play. 5 Stars
Still Faithful to the Series
I am a longtime Ace Combat fan. I've played EVERY installment, from Air Combat, the one that started it all, to Assault Horizon, the newest one featuring the revolutionary Dogfight Mode. All of them have had a combination of things that make Ace Combat stand out from other action flight sims: Amazing and emotional musical scores, moving and compelling storylines, and a perfect hybrid of action and flight sim realism.
After playing Skies of Incursion, I can honestly say that this game still lives up to the Ace Combat title. Everything that any longtime fan knows and loves is there, from enemy radio chatter, to even the ADFX-01 Falken! If you are a true Ace Combat fan, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not paying $2.99 to get this.
As only NAMCO can do. I love this game, and have been an AC fan from the begining. The planes are real world planes, and add a twist to the series. The story is typical Free World vs War-like State, and missions that feature air to air combat and ground missions as well.
It's such a beautiful game, I feel Namco should have made the game longer. It's the only drawback. It's way too short, but the experience is fun. Well worth it though, especially if you love fighter planes like I do.
