why isn’t this working?
I have ABP and it wasn’t perfect but worked fairly well for my needs. Recently, it simply disappeared. (I see someone else said that could be from the latest iOS update, but I don’t have that on my desktop yet). When I tried to reinstall, it showed me two boxes to check. The way I read it, if you checked the box that said you wanted the icon visible in the toolbar, it would be able to read sensitive information of all kinds on any page. What good is an app of any kind that allows for that?!
As it was, with only the one box checked, it only blocked very few ads, and I was still getting requests from sites to be whitelisted without being able to fnd any way to do it. I’ve got all kinds of garage showing up on my Facebook page, and you guys have ruined what was a reasonable product. WHY?
Hi Rose! Thank you for your feedback! Since Apple made some changes recently, we are forced to work with their content blocking model instead of our own ad blocking engine. We know the situation is currently less than ideal, but we are actively working towards a solution. Stay tuned for future updates! In the meantime, feel free to send us example URLs of where you are having issues to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those who think it doesn’t work...
You have to open the AdBlock Plus app (not just turn on the extensions in Safari) and turn off the “Allow Acceptable Ads” if you are still seeing ads. Of course, these are usually allowed because they’re non-intrusive, but just know that ABP does work, it just has some new fine tuning you may not be aware of. So if you truly can’t stand ads off in the sidebar of the web page that allows content providers to keep giving you free access to their site, go ahead and turn this feature off.
Perfect Adblock for me!
I used Sierra until the Mojave has released today because High Sierra was nightmare to me. I did not use any ad block extention to my safari because I wanted to use Ka-block which I can install after upgrade to higher version than Sierra. However, the Ka-block did not work for websites what I am using mostly on the Mojave. I installed Adblock Plus, and it was working perfetly after I UNCHECK "Allow Acceptable Ads" in the Adblock Plus General Setting. Great job Adblock Plus!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
