Adblock by Futuremind
Adblock works right out of the box. I have no idea what glitch other users have encountered but in my experience, this just works. ,,,,,,, however, the reason developer opted to make two similar adblockers is something to note; weblock uses PAC while this uses on-demand VPN to achieve the same result (the previous works on WiFi only) ,,,,,,,,, lastly, no reasons for privacy concerns. iOS does not support proxies on cellular and since vpn profile this app installs is a dummy profile, it is not possible for the developer to reroute any traffic to one of his servers as others have suggested. unless you're an iOS developer yourself, please stop with the misinformation. My verdict....... Adblock by Futuremind is priceless; it's worth every cent spent as it allows you to safely block ads and tracking regardless of network.
Spying potential exists; use at own risk
I used the previous version of this app and although it did a decent job at blocking ads, I noticed using a system monitor app that it was occasionally making connections to the company's own servers. Also, when I went to disable ad blocking, the app wanted me to install a different VPN profile, instead of simply instructing me to remove the existing profile it had previously installed. That made me suspect that the app wanted to continue to make these background connections to the company's servers even after I disabled it. There was no good reason for this so I removed the VPN profile in settings and stopped using this app. I changed all my passwords.
Any app, like this one, that requires installation of a VPN profile, has the potential to spy on your internet traffic, even if the app is not running. Once that VPN profile is installed, the company that made the app has control over your internet connections and can potentially spy on or redirect any of your internet traffic without your knowledge.
Since the app supposedly updates the profile in the background, Apple cannot review the profile updates to ensure they are safe. Apple's standard app review only reviews the app as it was submitted by the author. It does not review any updates to the profile made days or weeks after installation.
Use such apps, ones that install VPN profiles, at your own risk.
Works Like A Charm / Much Needed App
This app works as advertised. Very simple installation and an easy setup to get up and running. Those who love their privacy but don't want their 'Internet speeds' being bogged down by other apps that reroute your traffic just to filter should consider this app. Enjoy your device as it was intended; Fast and worry free. This developer has other great apps as well for those who are very particular in choice for the protections for their device.
