Description

ADOT Alerts is a must-have app for anyone who travels on Arizona’s state highway system. The Arizona Department of Transportation will send real-time travel notifications to your mobile device about major traffic impacts happening around you, helping you save time by avoiding delays. This app isn’t for daily commuting and rush-hour traffic jams – those apps already exist. This app will provide travelers with information on unplanned major traffic impacts, severe weather impacts and public safety events, such as wrong-way vehicles. After receiving the information, drivers can choose to re-route or delay their travel plans, avoiding lengthy delays and potentially dangerous situations.

Here’s a sampling of events that would trigger an alert:
Unplanned highway closure because of a crash.
Severe weather, like a snowstorm, that will impact travel.
Lengthy travel delays on holiday weekends.
Report of a wrong-way vehicle.

You will not be spammed with irrelevant alerts and by turning on your mobile device’s Location Services you will receive only the alerts that are happening around you. We use geofencing to target the recipients of each alert. We can pinpoint and send alerts to mobile devices on a single stretch of highway or the entire state.

Customize your alert settings. You can choose what kind of notifications to receive. And you can set it up so different alerts have different sounds.

You do not have to sign up, register or provide any contact information. Alerts are sent based on the location of your mobile device. You remain 100% anonymous and your privacy is protected.

This app has no advertisements.

Don't mind me...

I bet you're all thinking of downloading this so you can get vital traffic and weather alerts, right? Wrong. I'm getting constant advertisements disguised as traffic alerts. Not one actual traffic information yet. And it requires Location services be ALWAYS enabled rather than just when the app is open or in the background, so it maintains a constant gps lock on your phone that unnecessarily and egregiously drains the battery. You can turn that off, but you can't turn off the advert spam without also disabling the so-called safety alerts.

Gross. Bad app. Can't y'all, just once, put aside the greedy hunt for profit and do ONE good thing for people? Something that can make our lives on the roads safer and better? Without trying to sell us things? No? Okay. Don't know why I bothered to ask...

Doesn’t Actually Give Traffic Updates

This app is terrible, and other 3rd party apps are much more reliable. All this app does is spam you with ads, like another user said. I was quite upset when I was traveling on the 10 and I was not informed that there was an accident up ahead that caused a delay for me when I was running out of gas. I thought that was the whole point of this app? I also don’t like how you can’t view road conditions before you leave. I completely agree that DPS and ADOT are purely profit seekers and don’t actually strive to keep roads safer. I will be uninstalling this app due to its lack of quality and thought. As it stands this app is just wasting space on my phone.

ADOT Alerts app is helpful when traveling for unexpected issues

I wanted to leave a review because the first couple of reviews were misleading. There are no ads, but I think there was a free coffee gift card promo going on at first. This app will let you know of crashes, weather-related freeway problems and wrong way driver alerts in the area in which you are located. I appreciate this helpful info when traveling!
