Aemula Oldies is a game pack of classic DOS games. Playing a game is just one tap away. You don't need to enter any command.
It provides virtual PC keyboard, joystick, gamepad for playing these games on iPad. VGA output is supported on both iPad 1 and iPad 2. You will be able to remote control the game with Aemula Gamepad (which is a separate app running on iPhone or iPod Touch.)
What's New in Version 1.6
- Fix bugs.
- Performance improvement
- Mille Bornes can now use trackpad (screen area).
- right click is two finger tap.
- moving with two fingers down is interpreted as moving the mouse while holding the right button.
Oh thank you for this mana from heaven!
A long long time ago, in an app store far far away, there was an app called iDOS. Sadly though, some people found they could get the app to do whatever they wanted, even run Windows! So, it got pulled. iDOS came back though, and wile it was much harder to hack, you could. So, pulled. But, the legend of iDOS lives on! And now we can play all our favorite shareware and freeware games on our iPads! For what you get, you have DOS classics like Commander Keen 4, Duke Nukem, and even Wolfenstein 3D, and many more! Sure, I can't play Donkey Kong on my iPad, but with Champ Kong, problem fixed! My only gripe is that you need an iCade or the official Aemula controller app to use landscape, a shame since it looks so retro-lisus! I can only wonder how great this is playing on a TV with an iPhone in your hands playing Dangerous Dave! If new games are added at a good rate, this will be the Virtual Console or Xbox Live Arcade of the app store! Download now!
I can't believe my eyes!
After iDOS got released/pulled 2x, I thought the future of good old DOS games on iPad was bleak. You can't even imagine my surprise to see a post from the dev on Twitter about a new emulator release.
The fact that Commander Keen 4 is onboard is almost too good to be true. I'm completely stoked! Hopefully more freeware titles will be incorporated, much like the Spectrum and Commodore (etc) emulators have done.
Litchie, I want to offer my sincere thanks for your ongoing efforts to bring some of the best games of yesteryear to our beloved new devices. This is the second happiest day in App Store history. (iDOS 2.0 was the first, naturally)
Might I suggest...
I love the app, but can you make it so that there is a search option that allows you to find some of your favorite dos games? Because I want to play The Adventures of Willy Beamish, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Maniac Mansion, The Monkey Island Series, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders, and Sam and Max Hit the Road. Please ad the games. They are some of my favorites.
