Ratings and Reviews
I read about this app and was able to obtain access to check it out. This app is just a doorway to drama and bullying. Because it is anonymous the posts are for the most part very crude and sexually suggestive or just outright hateful and abusive. There is even the ability -if you scan your drivers license that those over 18 -can post even more crude/sexual comments outright, any filters that the app had for minors is turned off. Filters do not keep suggestive/crude comments off it b/c kids are smart, using slang terms and emojis that get the point across without outright typing words that would be censored.
The app does not want adults on it AT ALL, so it can be a safe place for kids (because no supervision is safe, right?!?!) and you have to allow access to your Facebook and contact list and your location to ‘verify’ that you are a student. It seems more like a scam to obtain information from unsuspecting/insecure kids who just want to know what people may be saying about them. This is nothing but trash and just leads to bullying and low self esteem. Supposedly, if you are thinking about hurting yourself and say so in a post on app, there is a chat option with personnel supposedly able to help with that-of course no way to know who they are talking to or if their advice is sound. the app itself probably causes more emotional harm to students than it would ever help.
A Clever Idea
My friend from school told me about the app and it looked interesting. An app where you can anonymously talk to students from your school, sounds like a very intuitive concept. But the fact that I HAD to give my current location seemed unnecessary and a little sketchy. Why can’t you just type the name of your school? Right after that I then had to give a Facebook account. I didn’t have one so I had to make one. I went to use it for the After School app but the gmail I used was invalid. And me being the impatient jerk that I am, I deleted the app. It didn’t really seem worth the hassle. Having to give my location and sign in on Facebook was very annoying. I feel like it would just be a new platform for drama and rumors to be spread. And I personally don’t really need a new way to text people from school. However, I don’t believe that I should criticize the quality of the app because I didn’t technically use it. If I could make a change to anything about the app I would fix the problems I mentioned to prevent scaring off potential users. After School is a very good idea for an app but in its current state, I don’t see myself using it.
Thank you for listening to my whining and have a nice day.
"Support" / notifications/ overall app feedback
First off, this app is great!! I love being able to talk to my class and friends anonymously. So i’ve noticed that most of my school got on this app pretty quickly which is how i guess my friends and high schoolers work. they see something they like and then everyone gets it. i think i’td be pretty cool if we were able to have a search button or bar so that we could search for our names. also, with likes, i have been getting a lot on my posts but kind of wish there was a notification screen or something that made it easier for me to see who likes me and my posts. and maybe even it’s like IG or something like that.. that would be super helpful to me. also, when i couldn’t get verified at first.. i thought this app was stupid and contacted the support team. they should get back to me quicker. it took like two hours but i wish it happened instantly. and it was good. they got back to me like two hours later
