What's New in Version 1.5.1
- Fixed two separate bugs related to opening push notifications or deep links to programming.
- Episodes added to listen later are now displaying correctly.
- Voice Over: Z gesture to go back now plays the appropriate sound effect. We also fixed a bug where the player state was not updating properly after a magic tap gesture.
Of all my (31) news apps this WAS my favorite! The idea is simply novel. You can select the AGOGO Chanel and it will play audio of tv and radio snippets that pertain to your pre-selected interests for as long as you can listen! But after 2 days of news heaven I decided to select more interests (50 or so in number). After doing this I had to skip 4 or 5 stories/interviews/broadcasts because I already heard them hours or even minutes prior. I must have heard the beginning of the same smug NPR Neil Patrick Harris interview 4 times! Also, today it just wouldn't play! The loading wheel turned as if to soon play...but nope, it didn't. Also, if you wish to resume a story or podcast later on, it will play from the pause for about 10 seconds, but then skip to the next story. That's basically them telling you, "current is better...forget your interests - they're getting hour-old staleness." Also, after a while you need to constantly press the play button cause it'll stop for no reason between stories. 2 stars for being the best news app idea...but minus 3 for the ridiculous amount of avoidable and very frustrating glitches. Simplify and fix glitches! I'll recheck in a month, otherwise no mo' AGOGO!
One of the best Apps
Agogo makes it possible for me to listen to all the latest in music, news, culture, etc. in one app with no searching for programs or stations. My favorites play one after another without needing to be prompted to start each one. Each of the newest shows remains in the queue so I can listen when it's convenient. I love being able to save individual broadcasts so they'd don't disappear. For example, I have saved some of my favorite artists in Mountain Stage performances. Other useful features for me include saving streaming stations alongside favorite programs and also access to select TV news/comedy programs. With Agogo, I no longer need apps for individual stations or programs.
Best of its Kind
Agogo is much better than Antenna and Rivet. It has many more selections than both of them and seems to deliver more current and up to date content. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is that there is always room for improvement, there are a few missing stations (I emailed them and they said they would be added) and the UI is in need of an update. But as far as content goes, this should be your choice.
