Old Timer Review
I have used AIM since it first came out in 1997. It has never let me down. Some versions have been better than others but I have given AIM the benefit of the doubt when a subpar version comes out knowing the next will include a fix. The current mobile version is rock solid. I can leave my desk confident I can continue contact with my colleagues transparently (they never know if I am at my desk or not!) whether I am running a short off campus errand, taking a break, or in transit to and from work.
Excessive security, poor notification control
Overall the app is what you expect. A couple little annoyances:
1. I can't figure out how to turn off notifications for this app. You don't seem to be able to change the sound and vibrate options in iOS settings or in the app settings.
2. It requires a password or Touch ID every single time you open it, and you can't turn this off. If you turn off Touch ID, you have to manually enter your password. Those are the only options.
I'd give it 5 stars if I had more control over those things.
The rest are junk
This app works. I bought several IM apps over the years and stopped using them all due to major issues. I don't have any of those issues with this app. It does what it says. I haven't had any issues in the last several months of using it. Simple, clean, works!
