Customer Reviews

The App is Pretty Good, Customer Service Not So Much

I think the app is good. They update it often there are some issues every now and then but no big issues. There are often a lot of places to choose from no matter where you want to stay. My issue is with their Customer Service. You have to report everything through the app there is no direct email and there is only one phone number and they will just tell you they'll get back to you and it'll take them a week, even longer sometimes.

I also personally don't think any host should be allowed to set their cancellation policy to strict. Especially since I've run into issues of the places not being as described or the areas are different and you either stay there or lose all you money. Airbnb will do next to nothing to the host and they won't refund you since they're a "third party".

App is getting better!

When we first started using AirBnb we thought the app was cryptic and difficult to use but over time we began to understand the logic. However as primarily as a host, there are necessary functions that we like to have for example, being able to dig deeper into the "stats" which you can only do from the website (and even that's limited). Another thing that would be nice is to not make folks search for a telephone number to speak with someone in case of an emergency, I had to google it! The App works fairly well for getting bookings, reminders and the ability to communicate with your guests. One key piece that would be nice to have, is the ability to attach emojis to messages. Emojis actually help clarify and simplify the meaning of written dialog that can be taken different ways.

Use VRBO, it's much better.

We are Super Hosts, so we are very familiar with Airbnb. We also use it for travel, but after using VRBO for both, VRBO is a much better company and system. Airbnb is a poorly executed system with no recourse for hosts. You have the worst version of Judge Judy at customer service arbitrating. VRBO is better all around and you will make more money!

If you are a host, Airbnb will mess with your money. They fail to collect a deposit and if anything is wrong, they force you to deal with it. They also blame you when guests break the rules, like having a massive party on your property and trashing your home.

If I was only renting a room, I would use Airbnb. For a house, it's not worth the risk.
