From a Dietitians Perspective

Food Marble is a great device that allowed me to become more in tune with my body and learn what sugars I can and can’t absorb. For someone who struggles with IBS, I am always interested in ways on how to identify foods that trigger “flare ups.” Food Marble allowed me to pinpoint foods that trigger GI symptoms and ways to lessen the effects or avoid those foods completely.

As a dietitian, I would recommend this device to patients who are struggling to pinpoint their GI triggers through certain FODMAP foods. This device, in conjunction with the downloadable app, also provides various food alternatives to allow for a wide selection of foods, while limiting foods that cause GI symptoms, as well as a food diary to help keep track of symptoms and foods eaten. It’s so much easier than writing everything down! The part that stood out to me the most on being super innovative and interesting was the fact that the device was able to read how much hydrogen was being released from my breath and transmit that information to the app. To me, that was the coolest thing I have ever experienced with the device and app.

Thank you to Food Marble for allowing me to try this product, I really appreciate it.

A Grear effort that may need a little tweaking.

I’m on day 3 of using this device I never write reviews bit I’m finding this device of great benefit to me. The device itself seems to me to produce accurate information. The app is a little tricky to manage to start ( probably because I don’t read enough literature to o learn how to use it?) but now on day 3 I’m getting quicker, and finding it’s doing most of what I need it to do I just need to learn how to use it best. I consider this a great effort by the producers of this product, and it’s helping me become more conscious of which foods affect me in different ways. FINALLY I’m making a food log that I can reference. It is a bit time consuming but I think it’s worth it to try to isolate which foods, and carbs, fats, sugars etc are affecting my digestive system the most. I think the more work you put into keeping your records straight, the better the results well be for you.

Needs improvement

Why can’t I edit something from the notes?? So dumb. Could use more foods, and better ease of use to log meals, like option to repeat previous breakfast and lunch, etc. I saw that pop up once or twice but the option isn’t always there and goes away if you aren’t immediately ready to log. A lot of us with GI issues are forced to eat the same foods every day. I realize that it saves some meals, but the way it’s organized makes it difficult to tell which meal you are repeating since you can’t see the individual ingredients until you’ve selected it (sometimes there are slight variations to what I eat) or when it was last eaten. I usually end up putting it all back in manually since this function is awkward. Also, it seems you can’t edit a food once you’ve made a custom one? For example, I make my own yogurt and I added that food, but I’ve upped the intake on it and it defaults to the original portion size. Could be streamlined a lot. Sometimes I can test 5 minutes after my last test and get a much different result, so the accuracy is a little questionable. Overall, I do find it to be helpful to track my SIBO/LIBO.
