Finally! Databases for everybody!
I've worked with databases sporadically for about 12 years now. On the other hand it's not what I get hired for, so I've never been able to justify the time or tears to get really fluent in SQL or the like. In concept I love databases, but the available consumer software has been crash-prone, murder to learn, or suddenly unsupported.
AirTable is as easy and straightforward as I have always wished a database building app would be. Now I can build databases for smaller tasks, home, and hobbies as well as major projects.
I would be even happier if there was an off-line version, and maybe if there were more examples about routine small business tasks, maybe tucked away in a discreet corner - it's fun to see all the exciting things databases can do, but we can't all be novelists, film producers, and jet-setters :-)
Really a sting contender
Since my employer has gone to Apple I've been searching for an easy-to-use Microsoft Access alternative. This is really powerful for tracking, and visualizing data sets. I love the collaborative nature of this cloud based database. It works across all platforms including Mac, Chrome, Windows, and even mobile.
So what's kept it from 5 stars? It lacks the ability to run custom generated queries the way Access did. The data visualization is more akin to spreadsheets in steroids than a true database.
That said all things considered, especially price point considered. This is the best database program I've used since going to Mac.
Awesome but Lacking one critical feature and other one
It's really an awesome app with a lot to do...
It's essential for any businessman
But Lacking ONE CRITICAL FEATURE which is OFFLINE, you can't browse or add data when you are not connected which is very bad tackle
And also lack a necessary feature from my point of view which is adding a note to an entry in the base (not to include in the table) but when clicking an entry the side bar appear I would love the choice to add notes or comments.
