DON'T USE REMOTE DEPOSIT if you need your money anytime soon!
So frustrating! Yes, the remote deposit section of the app does say that funds "may not be available for up to 5 business days" but it doesn't say what amount can cause holds or the fact that "approved" has nothing to do with when your money will be accessible. I deposited a $2200 check at about 10am on Friday, and within a couple hours it said my deposit was approved and it even showed up in my account. However, it is now 24 hours later and not a single cent is available for my use. In fact, it shows two "check hold releases" and says that $2,000 will be available 2/24 and the other $200 on 2/23. I am beyond frustrated and the worst part is that whether or not they put a hold on funds seems to be COMPLETELY random. I do remember having this happen before back when remote deposit was a separate app, but I have done remote deposits (for similar amounts) a handful of times since the app was combined, and those always were available shortly after they were approved. What gives? Is $2,000 the magic number that means I can't have my funds for days and days? If so, it says this nowhere. So frustrating and I am never again making the mistake of thinking that remote depositing is worth saving the 15 minutes it takes to go to the bank!
Needs intelligent updating
Almost always crashes at the PIN screen. The last update made the PIN screen like the PC-based PIN screen where you could use the "keyboard" or tap the graphic. It's a smartphone app. You already tap a screen graphic to use it even using "keyboard" mode; so that was a useless update as far as I can see. That useless but attractive looking update is probably the cause of all the crashes.
Also, it needs to be updated with some convenience and common sense in mind. The login account number screen SHOULD open to the number keypad screen rather than the default, alphabetical, keypad. NO account numbers are made of letters; they are all account NUMBERS. So save us the extra step of having to switch screens before we can even login! Make the app open to the number keyboard.
UPDATE: 2 years after my initial review and NO changes have been made! Still opens to the alphabetical screen. If AKUSA ever decides to support this app, how about adding Touch ID login like the rest of the financial apps do now?
When there is a gap between transactions you should be able to see where the pending transactions are going to be paid to. Also some transactions don't go on there until the next day or two which is really frustrating cause I always check my bank account everyday sometime twice. Some of them go on there right away but others do not.
Remote Deposits should be made available at least 24 hours after making the deposit. I shouldn't have to wait 3-5 days for the release of my funds. What is with the split holding releases...if you make a 500 deposit, it'll split it up into two release dates the first amount is usually 200 then day or so later you'll get the rest. REMOTE DEPOSITS ARE A JOKE!! Even Wells Fargo deposits and makes available to use funds within 24 hrs.
And yes the app is REALLY slow. Plus it doesn't help where I live our internet speeds are bit slower and this app takes FOREVER!! I can get it to go faster using safari.
