Fail - 2nd strike
May 4th - Just loaded recent update - still an epic fail. It does appear they have adjusted the article title a little - now seeing a few more words - but it is still too large on iPhone. Section settings still doesn't save between uses. Still same issues with full edition.
Like others I used the Journal's Breaking News app daily for years. I used the download of the full electronic basically when we went on vacation. That said, the new app is a fail - at least on the iPhone.
The breaking news headline text is way too large with no means to size it down. Thus each headline consists of about 5 words - one of which always seems to be "Updated:". The setting option to manage what sections you want to see has to be reset every time you run the app.
The full edition version is pretty much the same, except it doesn't appear one can download anything other than todays edition. I gave up testing it after it crashed and shut down the program a third time.
It's sad that such a major update was rolled out without apparently any testing on various platforms.
Third update still bad
Even after three updates to last weeks new version, still completely a fail. Poor navigation; still can't log in to my subscription: can't print screen, only print page which means I can't do crossword puzzles. Again, prior version before the update last week worked perfectly well. I reverted back to older version until/if this gets fixed. If not, will have to cancel subscription.
Really, really Bad
This is the first review of an app I have ever done. But these updates are so bad I thought I would write one and hopefully the ext update will be tested before it rolls out. Constantly hangs, blurry pages unless you log out and back in, would like to be able to read paper and not get internet connection errors. I would like to know how to go back to the earlier versions. Much better
