What's New in Version 2.0.1
I've given up trying to navigate this app.
I was excited to look for a few books I'd been thinking about getting, but I cannot figure out a good way to find my way around effectively. The search function seems to search EVERYTHING, including podcasts from iTunes. Which is irritating. The navigation feels backwards and I always wind up going to a menu I didn't intend on.
Also, browsing the books is a headache. You are only given low resolution thumbnails of the book covers, which are often difficult to make out, but they are your only source of info regarding book titles.
I don't even think I'm going to wait the full 30 days for the free trial. I'm just going to cancel everything right now.
This company is charging ridiculous amounts of money for public domain books, as well as making it very difficult to unsubscribe.
There is no link within this app to let you unsubscribe from them billing your card. You have to either call them to cancel, or use a third party canceling program.
After being billed, and canceling, I was unable to use the credit that I had already paid for!
Almost all of the books within this app are public domain books, meaning that you can find them for free among other sites.
This site is a total scam and I hope that many of us plan on filing complaints with the Bureau of Consumer Protection.
Mostly Public Domain Stuff
I was lured into signing up for this service because I did a search on a popular commercial title that led me to the site. After giving them my credit card information and logging on, it was clear that this is mostly public domain stuff. In other words, you can find all the stuff for free elsewhere. There are even some *free apps* that give you access to much of this content. No subscription necessary! As for podcasts, there are some great standalone apps, like Overcast, that are also free. Podcasts, by definition, are free! This app is misleading—I'm guessing that it caters to newbies or oldsters who don't know any better.
