Ratings and Reviews
Found this service online while looking for a certain book. It was late, the free trial sounded good. I searched and searched, and of their “40,000 books”, I found not one popular title that I was looking for. Tried several times to cancel by phone, as doing so online was not an option, only to be placed on hold immediately and ran out of patience before reaching a human being. I finally forgot about it until being billed, and emailed them while the charge was still pending. I wish I would have done that first as they actually did respond and cancel the service, only rubbing salt on the wound in their email by reminding me of their terms of service and that they “conveniently billed” my card on file. Lesson learned. Save your money. You could find their “B” rated titles on bargain table in a thrift store.
I’ve used Audible for years and then this site popped up in a feed, so tonight I “tried” it. Nothing noteworthy to rent. Lots of books and authors, but, not even in the same class as Audible or even Kindle. Odd, eclectic mix of books, searching is a nightmare and I cancelled less than 10 minutes after the app was opened. Canceling is not an option online, not sure if it will via email, but, I opted not to try. The hold time for customer service was about average and the young lady who canceled for me was very nice and I received the cancellation email as promised. Ideally, this is over. I won’t make this sort of mistake again, I’m going back to audible.
I signed up and cancelled about 5 minutes later. If you are just looking for random books it might be fine, but I specifically wanted a series. I called the number and got a person immediately, she cancelled right away. I am expecting to see a confirmed cancellation email in the next few minutes and no charge 30 days from now. If I’m still charged, I will update my review with a lower rating and much gnashing of teeth.
