A mesmerizing and fast-paced word building game with stunning visuals and intuitive gameplay. Test and refine your skills as you play through increasingly challenging levels.
Highly addicting anagram-style puzzle suited for beginning spellers as well as proficient wordsmiths.
Word lists are based on official Scrabble(tm) references-- the Tournament Word List (TWL 2006) and SOWPODS (2006). These references include abbreviations and acronyms to provide expanded word choices.
We're hard at work on the next release of Alphagram which will be free to all existing users. This major upgrade is coming soon!
Horrible, does NOT contain actual alphagrams!
This app is named Alphagrams but does not actually contain any alphagrams to solve or study. The name & vague description of this app is misleading consumers. My money should be refunded. This is fraud.
Just paid $2.99 for what was supposed to be ALPHAGRAMS! This app does NOT contain alphagrams to solve. Furthermore, it has not been updated since the original release in 2008. You can't even chose between TWL or SOWPODS. The developers should have looked up the meaning & description of alphagram before naming this app Alphagrams. This app simply asks you to build two words out of the four letters on the screen... that is not solving alphagrams!
WORST WASTE OF MONEY ON AN APP EVER!
An alphagram of a word (or of any group of letters) consists of those letters arranged in alphabetical order. For example, the alphagram of alphagram isAAAGHLMPR.
There is one major flaw here
I love the look and feel of this game. It's terrific. But there is one rather huge problem: most of the words that it wants you to come up with are not real words. I'm a big fan of word games, and I know all the Scrabble words, the dictionary words allowed in crossword puzzles, etc. Believe me, a lot of the "words" here are merely random assortments of letters. This becomes a problem when you have to spend precious time guessing which combination of letters is considered a word, and which is not. For example, in my most recent game, MNA is a word, but ANM is not. EAN is, but the equally unlikely AEN is not.
Great game, great price!
One warning: this game is addictive! It's a well thought out, fast-paced word game that appears to use a Scrabble-like dictionary to determine acceptable values. (This results in some interesting words, as noted by others.). The app is remarkably fast given the number of possible word permutations, and the graphics are crisp and clean. Given the low price, this app is a steal that will provide hours of fun.
