Great concept, bad execution

I love that this exists because the remotes that come with the Fire TVs always die right away. The concept is good. The way the concept is executed is terrible though! What the heck is the purpose of having the play button disappear like that?! I’m always accidentally hitting home when I’m trying to hit pause. Also, rewinding is a pain because (again) that row of buttons just disappears. It always seems to happen when I’m rewinding the fastest so that, by the time I swipe that row back up again, it’s rewound to the beginning of the movie! The “finger pad” portion of the remote doesn’t work that well either, especially because I’m usually watching something while washing dishes or cooking so I have to use a knuckle or other less dexterous body part when my fingers are wet. If the buttons didn’t jump around, it wouldn’t be an issue because I would default to the buttons rather than the unresponsive pad in most situations. As it is, it’s kind of insane that this neat idea works so much worse than the physical remote with its stupidly curved bottom that makes it rock when you try to press anything on it. Or at least it would if the physical remote would work at all.

Bad connection

I first discovered the app when a girl friend connected it to change what I was playing, I thought this could be handy! A few months after I got my fire stick the remote stopped working, I thought it was strange, changed the batteries but nothing. That’s when I really started using the app. It worked great at first but as days went on it would take a long time to find and connect to the fire stick. I tried my controller again which magically worked again. About a year later my dog chewed the controller so only the up and left button worked as well as the other so I couldn’t use it on the home screen since the down and right button didn’t work. Again same problem with the app, it can connect right away at times. Sometimes I have to try and connect 3-5 times meaning closing and opening the app. Other than getting connected the app works great! I like the keyboard feature which didn’t work for my iPhone 6s until the 11 generation update.

Please give us a better update with this app

I’ve been using this app for maybe a year now and I love the fact that we have this as a backup as our other remote is broken. Now, since using this app, it has been a lifesaver! But, for some reason it doesn’t always want to connect to my fire tv and when I’m selecting it seems the “button” gets stuck. It’ll skip all over the place! I don’t know if it’s the version of iPhone I have (6 Plus) or just the app itself. And sometimes Alexa doesn’t always work within this app either. I might just need to buy another remote and simply use this for emergency cases. Which I’m sure that is what was intended when created, however, it doesn’t seem practical to use daily with the issues that I am experiencing. Overall, it’s great in a bind and although the issues I am experiencing are frustrating, it gets the job done!
