What's New in Version 5.1
This update includes bug fixes and enhancements to the new Amex Mobile app. The streamlined experience includes improved navigation and quick access to rewards and offers. The new Amex Mobile app is optimized for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and has a number of updated features, some available only in the app.

Garbage (originally, "Clunky")
Update: Payments do not post/reflect immediately as they once did (or two business days later, so far). The more I use the app, the worse I find it. I cannot trust what is presented to ensure that all is well with my accounts, or know if I should make a payment. Furious.
It is now harder to switch between my two accounts and view recent activity. Why do I need to use a bottom menu? Both card icons could be visible/switchable at the top, and my recent activity could be included/itemized in "Total Balance" information. Bottom menu bad for other reasons as well. The American Express app was a pleasure to use for years prior to this update. Information is now compartmentalized, separated out, with a "clunky" experience replacing a previously streamlined, more fluid and intuitive one. This is an issue of compromised functionality and a convoluted disconnect of necessary information (not simply adaptation by the user). New developers starting from scratch? Get lost, please (and don't pretend to be "Mrs. Brio").
Went from great to horrible overnight
Why would you change something that simply works and gets you exactly what you need within finger-reach? The new version is so bad, that I had to call the Platinum CS to understand what my balance really was. The 'activity' tab is convoluted and makes it excessively complicated to understand if you have payments and/or credits showing within the current cycle. The agent over the phone told me they are getting the 'best feedback ever' but what I read here tells me otherwise. I'm getting more and more tired of American Express as of late. Not happy to remove features and charge you even more for their premium cards, they can't even offer a decent app anymore. Priceless.
Bring back the old app!
The old app was fantastic and I constantly recommended it to anyone with an American Express Card. On the old one you could do any form of maintenance including setting up and canceling auto pay and requesting new cards.
With the new app, all I can seem to do is see the balances on the card. Starting when the new version came out, an old autopay to an account I don't use any more was restarted and started pulling money from an empty account using a cancelled autopay setting. In addition, I have yet to be able to find a way to edit autopay or add new accounts. I now have to manage my AmEx over the phone or on the computer since the mobile site is terrible too.
