MahJong Practice 2018 is real American MahJong with Charleston.
Practice patterns. Rules are not enforced.
Tile Counts assist in strategy decisions. Tile Counts do not account for dead hands, or include Jokers.
Test your game strategy with replay option. A game ends when you mahjong or the wall of tiles runs out. Opponents build patterns but do not declare mahjong.
Info button in the app provides details about the mechanics of moving tiles.
For beginners, reference Standard American MahJong rules online. You should know basic rules before using this app.
New Stat Table!
The Filter Settings page includes the new Stat Table to track your progress as you complete patterns and also improved filter options.

Amazing Mahjong Practice Program
I am obsessed with this practice game. It works perfectly and is so easy to use. Available hands appear quickly and change with each move. Seems to have a infinite number of practice games. Keeps count of which hands have been won. Graphics are clear. Game is perfect. Only improvement might be to display statistics for games played and won.
Update-Thanks for the clarification on new hands. I continue to love this app. It has become my favorite. I agree with another reviewer that it would be great to see the other hands at the end of the game. I do like that the other hands don’t win. It makes it more like practice and less like a game simulation. I’d do have one request - I would like to be able to tap on my discards instead of swiping. Sometimes my swipes don’t “take”.
Help - I think you may be missing a valid hand:
FFF 1111 FFF 5555 or
FFF 5555 FFF 9999
Could you please ants. Thanks.
Everything works perfectly. Thanks.
Thanks for the stats. You’ve made a great app even better.
Tiles are shuffled randomly for a new game every time.
We added tap for discards to version 1.9.
FFF 5555 FFF 9999 problem:
When you expose 3 flowers in a hand that needs 6 total the pattern filter removes it from the list. Fixed in version 2.1.
Helps me learn!
Love, love, love!!! Great replay option to know if I chose the best set to work on...wish discard was just a tap rather than a swish...wish the points option (25, 30, 40, etc) was shown so I could practice easier ones as I’m learning. Sometimes I’m away from my card and I choose too difficult a set for my skills. Also would love a way to know the “best” strategy to use rather than my guessing. I could override the “best”strategy, but I might be choosing unwisely but just don’t know. Thanks for good work....also, card gives a bit more description of a set which is very helpful and I’d like to see within the app as an option.
Great practice, but...
I really like this app for the visuals, the pattern practice, the stats/replay option, and of course the price. Thank you!
But... jokers are not supposed to be able to be used for pairs— yet this app allows the use of jokers in pairs to complete a mahjong. I know that you mention that the “rules aren’t enforced” and that players should know basic rules before using this app. But I still think you should not allow players to reveal pairs with jokers— or at least, not consider it a “mahjong” at the end (and explain why in a short notification message). It’s important to reinforce certain rules for the learning process, right?
