Good but not great
Good app but there's always room for improvement. Would be more convenient if you could see your FICO score in the app instead of having to log in through the website. It would also be nice to be able to manage/redeem rewards through the app. Nowadays majority of consumers use apps for everything, well at least what we can. Very inconvenient and frustrating to have to log in through website to do certain things. Just about every single one of my other financial institution apps are much better. With the amount of fees your customers and merchants accepting your cards pay, you should be paying your developers to make sure customers like the app. This is AMEX, you're supposed to be leading the rest instead of trying to catch up with them. Get it together people.
This app is very behind compared to Capital one. The interface is dated and boring to be honest. Aside from the looks the functionality is awful. I can't even see my card rewards and then can't redeem them from the app and have to visit the website to do that. It won't let me make a payment as I choose, for instance if your statement balance has not updated, but you would like to make a payment because you just made a purchase. If it shows zero balance even if you see the purchase reflected in your credit balance you will not be able to make a payment. I expected more from a company like American Express.
I like the app. Easy to use. Like the ability to add promotions to it and amex exclusive things. I do not like how you force consumers to wait until a certain point before using rewards... also, the reward to dollar amount is confusing and not communicated properly to users of your cards. It appears dishonest. So app good, but banking methodology seems sketch. Dog eat dog and I don't care about you attitudes aren't he best for business, which could explain why the bank is not in the top ten in the nation.
