It Could be So Much Better
There are several problems with this app. What could’ve been a beautifully clean and pleasing to use design is messed up by American express his insistence on trying to sell you stuff. The biggest thing they’re trying to sell you is the chance to finance individual purchases, with their “plan it” offering, with a big plan it box by every medium to large purchase marring the design. It’s something I will never use, and neither should you. If you need financing assistance, it should not be done on an item by item basis. Likewise by other items they have a ‘pay it’ box, which just takes you to another screen and tells you, well you’re not actually paying for that item you’re just making a payment towards your account for that amount. So why did they more the design by putting all those stupid boxes? Then they throw in advertising like for Starbucks here in there. Sorry guys all I want to see my transactions with no distractions!!! Finally they do the same thing they do on their website and Pop up things you don’t want to see. And finally why is a partial image of an AMEX card I closed long long ago still showing on my screen. Ridiculous!
For the price, I still feel like the rewards could be better, or at least not have as many restrictions. For instance, the airline credit should apply to any airline as long as I have credits available. Or at least, let me change my airline as many times as I want rather than “once per year.” And don’t even get me started on the Uber credits that disappear if you don’t use them by the end of the month. It’s like AMEX will “give” you the rewards but then have all these limitations to restrict the ways in which you can use them. Oh, and remind me again why the “airline credit” can’t be applied towards upgrades. It’s stuff like that irks me. If I’m paying $550 (I just cringe at the thought) per year for the “benefits” of this card, I should be able to use them whenever and however I want throughout the year. Jeez. The only true benefit of this card that I really enjoy are the airport lounges, which honestly, is the only reason why I still have the card at this point. So if you start chipping away at the lounge benefits, I’m gone.
Great Company/Slight Issue
I’m very thankful to have finally started to build a relationship with a business who cares for their cardholders as much as I care for them as much as a business. Everything from App, support, advice, etc AMAZING! ( Companies need to learn from them )
The only downside is my issue with getting a Delta Sky Miles. I’m really in need for a travel rewards card after multiple deaths occurred within the family ( not expected) I realized Cash Back and cash at hand wasn’t benefitting me the way a travel rewards card could. I figured if I had pre approvals for several cards, which I know aren’t guarantees, and being approved for an Amex Everyday I could qualify for either the Blue/Gold Delta Sky Miles. For some reason I wasn’t.
I waited several months while watching my credit grow, offers change, etc but unfortunately I was declined for a Sky miles card. Perhaps I will fit the qualifications for that card next month so I can benefit while traveling, rather it be death a death in the family, which can be quite expensive, or benefiting from any other sort of traveling I do with my family, something is better than nothing.
