Thanks to Ancestry I Found a Sister

I love Ancestry. I’ve been with them since they started. It used to be a lot harder to find what you were looking for, but now they have so many records online it’s pretty easy to get your tree started. Believe me it grows pretty fast. This year a woman contacted me through Ancestry and said our DNA was a very close match. We were both a little Nervous at first. But, It turns out my dad had a daughter out of wedlock when I was 12 yrs old. We started connecting the dots and now I have a sister. I am an only child and I always wanted a sister growing up. Thank You Ancestry!!! She only lives about 2 hours from me for all this time. Amazing. It’s been so rewarding and fulfilling knowing where my ancestors have traveled and lived. I found out who I was through learning about them. I have an understanding of why I do some things the way I do, of where some traits like having a love for books and learnIng and where my artistic talent came from. In addition, being able to read the causes of death from their death certificates has been very interesting and helpful for my own health. Knowing who I am has changed my life for the better and expanded a whole new branch. I’m 66 and suddenly having a new sister is just beyond words. I still have to pinch myself sometimes.

I Can Never Thank Ancestry Enough for What You’ve Given Me💗

Very interesting

Our family really loves this app. It’s fun and exiting finding new facts about your family. It’s incredible to see my grandmothers name on old census records. We have found lots of distant family. It was fun joking to my cousin how now we don’t have wonder if we were adopted LOL. Sometimes you can truly feel like ‘how the heck can I be related to some of the nuts in my family tree.’ Well the proof is in the pudding, there’s no denying it. One word of caution, be very careful when confirming facts LOL. Knowing that a specific member in my tree, 3 generations back was really the milk mans son, I confirmed too hastily the mom’s husband and messed up the tree starting from him back. But it’s great fun. Family secrets come alive right before your eyes. A friend found a brother she didn’t know she had because her daddy had an affair many decades back but they became close family and she attended his wedding. So see, there can be some happy endings if you are brave enough, muaaahahahaha! In our family we have a streak of white hair right in the front, which is pretty dramatic and we found a distant cousin, whom the resemblance between her and I was like WOW! So if you suspect stuff about your Kin and you are mentally prepared for the knowledge hidden within, spit in a cup, and just wait and see. Cuz you just never know, you could be related to me! Muahahahahaha!
“JUST DO IT!”

Updates not helpful and make things worse!

Not removing previous review except to add that on an iPad the entire top half of the screen is wasted dead space. Which was in the previous version. I do not understand why they are making it harder and harder to use. I only use the app on my phone to delete the irrelevant indexed hints to get them out of the way and to delete the 4,000,000 blurry sailing ships, country flags and insipid cutesy Cupids and drawings of pilgrims. Granted those annoyances are user uploads and not ancestry programmer’s doing but the changes take the phone app from bad to impossible to see. They may want to consider that people who use these apps are primarily baby boomers with reading specs.

I've removed previous reviews. The newest update makes any editing a tedious confusing and frustrating process. To simply correct a mispelled city take countless taps and hunting for where to fix. This app gets worse and worse. This whole "story" thing is so useless. Some people do not want to combine their facts into a timeline story. I find it very annoying. The latest version results in a screen where on a profile the top 2/3 is BLANK - and the three previous views of timeline, sources and gallery are now itty bitty impossible to read columns side by side at the bottom. I used to use this app extensively and now it's rendered useless.
