Ancient Frog is a wholly original puzzle game. The aim is to move your frog from one end of the screen to the other, to eat a delicious fly. You can only move one leg at a time, and only one foot can rest on a particular spot at a time.
There's no time limit. You can take your time considering your next move and watching the gentle interplay of light and shadow.
There's no move limit. However circuitous a route you take, eating the fly unlocks the puzzle. You can return to any puzzle at any time for another go, if you want to beat your own score.
You can skip any puzzle at any time from the daisy menu. If you're having trouble with a level, just move on to the next one, and come back to it later.
Each puzzle has a par, representing the shortest number of moves required to complete the puzzle. Achieving that perfect solution will sometimes require fiendishly twisted thinking!

Brutally hard but addictive, and wall climbers will love it.
Did you know frog feet can only grip where there's a splash mark?
Neither did I, but limiting your froggy feet to the wet drops on a leaf creates in a series of nasty climbing problems for you. Twist and contort your way from foothold to foothold until you maneuver into a winning position and snatch up a very abiding and patient fly.
The graphics are eye-catching with a nice variety of colorful frog species and environments. Oddly enough, the puzzles are not arranged in order of difficulty but you can do them in any order you please. Each puzzle displays the minimum possible moves as "par", rewarding you with a special flower color if you achieve it. Unfortunately there's a nasty bug that occasionally causes it to forget that your most recent score was perfect rather than pedestrian, forcing you to do it again until it recognizes your achievement. No big deal, but very annoying.
The game plays very much like a climbing wall problem where you're trying to figure out which limbs go on which grips and in what order (except that you don't have that time pressure of tiring arms and legs).
Hold down a foot and a spotlight will shine on every grip within reach of that foot. Touch the question mark in the upper left (repeatedly, if necessary) to get good intermediate positions to aim for. The key is to advance your inflexible front feet by twisting about your long and rubbery hind legs until your short little "arms" can make it to the next handhold.
