Beautiful graphics + challenging puzzles = great game!
I first came across developed StormBASIC Games when searching for a new puzzle game, and found DynoQuest. DynoQuest is great puzzle game, and you can read my review on that app's page. Since I really liked DynoQuest, I took a closer look at the dev's other apps and found this one. In a word ... WOW! The opening graphics are absolutely stunning. The game opens with the central character walking along a corridor, and falls through a crack in the floor. That's where the puzzle fun begins. You find the central character trapped in a room, with several blocks located in different areas of the room. The goal is to push the blocks to the designated areas of the room, thereby "escaping" the room. While the first couple of levels are quite easy, the difficulty ramps up, requiring you to plan your moves in advance, otherwise you'll end up positioning a block somewhere where you won't be able to move it again. It's a blast, and easily worth the money.
SLOPPY & BUGGY
The premise of this game is quite good, similar to Boxed-In, but without the ease of controls. Rather than focusing on strategy, I find myself frustrated by programming bugs. Common is opening a new level to find a portion beyond view, while blank space is available above and to the side of the board, and NO panning option. Zooming out doesn't help. Tough to plan a strayegy! The "virtual pad" control option does not work whatsoever. The colors are all very dark; gloomy. Overall sloppy feel. Interestingly, the developer's website is equally sloppy, so I don't expect fixes to this app. As is, this app is not ready to be sold. SORRY I BOUGHT THIS.
Graphics Good... Playability... Not So Much
This is a great looking game! Unfortunately for me, I have a difficult time controlling it. You can't move up, left, right or down. You have to move diagonally since the level is positioned at an angle. It's hard to tap the arrows on the screen to move so I have to constantly look at the controls on the screen. It's a shame because like I said, it's a great looking game. I'd wait for a demo version so you can see if you can handle the controls. The puzzles also seemed to be thrown together quickly. They aren't very difficult and could have been done better.
