The APIC 2012 mobile handout application allows you to search through the presentations from the 2012 conference and access all the available presentation slides. You can draw and highlight directly on the slides using your fingers, and you can take notes on each slide. All your notes are saved online for you so you can access them later through your online personal summary.
The 2012 posters are also included in the app. Search by number or title and see high resolution versions of each poster.
What's New in Version 1.1
- Faster downloading of presentations and posters
No paper to lug around
This has been a great tool as too many of the meeting rooms did not have enough seating. It is great to be able to add my notes while in the presentation without have to print out the slides ahead of time and try to bring the right stack of paper to the right presentation.
It took me about an hour to get the presentation to work as the directions were not correct. My IPad did not automatically go to the Apple Store to the application so I had to figure that out on my own. Also the directions did not indicate that you can go to the settings button and have all of the presentations download at once instead of one at a time.
It would also be helpful if the app let you know that the reason in keeps going back to the desktop instead of loading is due to a poor or no connection. When mine didn't work and rebooting didn't work I deleted the app and reloaded. It was at that point that I realized the Internet connection was lost.
After all of the issues I would purchase this access again.
Slides in hand!
With the large room sizes, it has been difficult to see the screen at the front of the room. I have been able to sit anywhere (even on the floor) and see the slides clearly on my iPad. Even the people sitting next to me have glanced over my shoulder to see. I am eager to hear the presentations that I missed once the conference has ended.
Well worth the money!
I loved having the app available on the first day of the conference!
I loaded my materials at home (very easy!!) and was able to review posters and lectures I wanted to attend on the plane en route to the conference. I loved the highlighting, drawing, and note features for the slides!
My only issue with the slides is that my version of iPad did not support help features that would allow me to erase my writing from the slides.
In the the future, I would love to see an option to have ALL conference materials available in this format. it truly made my conference experience so much more enjoyable to carry less paper!
