Please note:

BMW Connected is optimized for 2014 and newer vehicles. While the app’s features will function as expected on many 2013 and earlier vehicles, some vehicles may be incompatible with certain services.

Usage of the app is based on the general contractual and usage conditions for BMW ConnectedDrive. For further information on the wide range of services offered by BMW ConnectedDrive and BMW Connected, please also consult our webpages at www.bmw.com/connecteddrive and www.bmw.com/getconnected. Please refer to www.bmw.com/bluetooth regarding the compatibility of your smartphone with BMW cars.

For the aforementioned reasons, BMW is unable to warranty unrestricted compatibility and functionality of your mobile device in combination with the vehicle interface. Mixed bag

Now that I've tried this and the older Connect app, I do not think this was an improvement. The Connect app had a slew of in-car options that BMW decided to demise, such as news. The calendar component was better organized, and the Web Radio was a much better option than the way in which the replacement apps by themselves work -- local station searches were much easier than now, and the genre selection is now gone in any of the replacements. So those are not improvements at all and they shouldnhave just fixed those. The manner now in which the apps are activated is also now less effective -- I can get it to work perhaps 50% of the time to activate TuneIn, which is suposedly supported. Meanwhile Glimpse is about the only thing other than iHeart Auto and Pandora that activate easily, and they're annoying if you don't want those.

While the watch integration is nice, there are also lost features in Connected from the old Connect app, such as activating vehicle features before arrival, and trip estimation. There was an opportunity to make this more like Apple Car Play, which was probably a better idea than the current confusing and muddling interface. I'm not very impressed and will likely continue using Connect because it seems to work much better than this replacement. Let's hope they get the next version right, but this one is one I'd skip.

Worthless and Frustrating

This app works sporadically at best. In fact, it must have been written by Murphy himself, as the app will not work when it would be most useful. Is it a hot day, and wish you could ventilate your car before you get to it? Well, this app will tell you your remote services are disabled. Did you park you car in an unusual place, and forget where it is? Well this app will not work then either. Oddly enough, when your car is in your garage, the location works, and when it's cold, and have no need to pre ventilate your car, the app will work, and make your car colder. The more I think about it, it's beyond useless, since it seems to do the exact opposite of what you want.

There was an update released on 07/11 that created even newer issues. Upon opening the updated app you're greeted with a screen that asks you to enable location services. That's great since the previous versions always seemed to say "remote services disable". Well, selecting the "enable" option gives you an error message that says something like remote services can't be enabled. SMH...When you go to the map to locate you're vehicle, the error in the map says that you need to enable GPS services in your vehicle. Except that I have already enabled the feature in my car. This really is one of the most frustrating apps in the store. It works sporadically at best. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to why.

Flimsy app

For the most part its basics are good enough I would think especially when they actually ALLOWED you to unlock your car because from the beginning it mentioned that you had to call BMW to unlock it (stupid what was the reason for the app if you cant do the basics of locking and unlocking your car) but the thing that gets me the most are the fact that at the begging i was able to see the location of my car when it was also in motion (which I found it to be GREAT until it was not an option anymore), then the fact of having to turn on the gps on my car (i don't know why since it was active ever since i got the car) so i had to actually/physically turn it back on (including the GPS location of my phone which makes ZERO sense) anyways after all that, updates etc the only thing that is working flawlessly are the basic buttons because the location services seams to work only when it wants, never when the car moves and lately NOT AT ALL, just loading the “retrieving location” without actually finding my car even though he GPS location services is activated in my car and phone, used to love BMW and for the most part still a GREAT brand but besides this app customer service is second compared to MERCEDES BENZ, no more BMW for me sorry ...
