Set off on an adventure with Catan Stories: Legend of the Sea Robbers. Seventy years after the first settlers arrived on Catan, the island is enjoying peace and prosperity, but for how much longer? In this original text adventure, guide three heroes and explore the world of Catan through them. Each of your decisions will have consequences; the fate of the island is in your hands.

In this captivating interactive story, you play as a raven, the island's guardian, and you follow three characters on their journey. In order to lead these three adventurers toward their shared destiny, you must choose your words with care and write your own story. Throughout your adventure, be aware of your environment and try to learn a little more about the world that surrounds you.
Many mysteries await you... As a bird with supernatural powers, you can communicate with and read the thoughts of human beings. This strange raven is also endowed with dark and intriguing visions. These disconcerting visions will perhaps bring trouble or, who knows, help from characters you did not even imagine existed.
A great adventure awaits you. Show your mettle and keep a level head to progress through the story. However, don't be too reckless, or you might lose a few feathers! This game requires nerves of steel and a marked flair for adventure, but don't get too distracted, Catan could be in danger. The time has come to explore the island and save it. It’s great!

You can ignore the 1-star reviews on here. If you want to play the board game “Catan”, formerly named “Settlers of Catan”, then go buy that. This game takes place in the same world, but is not a board game at all. It is an interactive story, allowing you to learn what is happening over the first few hours of reading.

The story is very well-written and compelling, and the decisions are interesting. I ultimately feel the decisions don’t matter a ton, though you can end up killing characters and having to restart parts of the story, but I still enjoy the story enough that I don’t think it matters.

Some people complain about the forced breaks, which tie into the theme and story, and I have seen complaints about the time to “load messages”, though in both cases I find this to be helpful. The “load time” is clearly just in place to pace the text as a normal conversation. It helps present small amounts of text without feeling overwhelming. The longer breaks serve to make the story last a little longer, and gives a good sense of time. The breaks are not long, anyway, so I don’t feel they hurt anything.

Again, I think this is great, and I really look forward to continuing when I have a few moments of downtime throughout my days. I hope the developers introduce more stories or modules - they are definitely worth the money!

Licensed to trick fans of the game

If you enjoy Catan, don't bother with this game. It's just a low-effort interactive book full of fake loading screens and mandatory breaks to artificially lengthen the game. It has nothing to do with the board game. They just named it after Catan to get people to pay for the game.

Edit: I have been contacted by the developers of the game saying that the game takes place in the world of Catan. And I think it's nice if they wanted to make a few references to the game in their story, but that is not the point of what I said. In my world, Catan is a game. One of the greatest games of all time. Aside from the name of the island, this game is nothing like that game. Even if they have a well-made story or even if they were true to the spirit of Catan, this game has fundamental issues with artificial game lengthening, gimmicks, and lack of substance. I appreciate what the devs might be trying to do, and I'm sure they love Catan just as much as I do. But I don't think it's fair for anyone to have to pay money for the game in its current state expecting it to be something that it's not.

Exciting visual novel!

I would call this a visual novel more so than a game. You get to go on adventures with three different characters in the Catan world and follow a single story to its conclusion. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. The only reason I can’t give it five stars is b/c the story has built into it various “stop points” where you can’t continue for several minutes (3-5 minutes per stop). If you actually wanted to sit down and just go through the whole story, these stop points would STOP you short and you might get frustrated. If you can bear with those and have the patience to stop when prompted, it’s worth the waits!!
