Love in spite of bugs

if only it worked.

Ever since using a professional nutrition program in college I've been trying to find an app or program like this. It is a great tool at keeping track of overall nutrition which is what I was looking for. I was able to find several nutrition gaps in my diet, recognize that I did have the symptoms of deficiency too, and start tweaking the foods I'm eating and taking specific supplements to fill those gaps I simply couldn't fill. It has been a very positive addition to my lifestyle and I've had several of the symptoms, like fatigue and low mood, disappear too.

I took off one star for two reasons. It can sometimes be glitchy. I've had it freeze and crash several times while trying to add foods. Usually it starts back up no problem though.

And the other reason is they are sometimes lacking in terms of what foods are available to add. They have most American fresh foods and a few snack foods like Cheez its and crackers, but they are lacking in some things that seem they should have considering some of the obscure foods they DO have in there like jackfruit and various little known berries. They don't have some types of fish, like barramundi, and some of the more obscure types of produce available like dragonfruit, but even baby spinach and different varieties of apples or oranges are missing. Overall though, it's a great tool and I can usually find a close enough food to use in place.

This is what we all need. Not blanket calorie and carb counters, as if that was the most important and only nutritional value that exists. Actual nutrients, which far outweigh the value of mere caloric intake and detailed info on each specific one, suggestions and tips on optimizing each one, and even suggestions on what to eat next to fill in missing nutrition gaps. Super granular, super perfect. While carbs and calories might be important if all you care about is how much you weigh, actual health is much deeper and more complex than simply counting your calories and “eating greens” and “being active” by “walking”. This app effectively lets you get down to the individual level with your nutrient intake and take control of your diet and life in a much more precise way than worrying about not eating bread. Be aware though, people are too lazy to be accurate in their own lives and need apps to hold their hand, so 99 percent of the user submitted items have nutrition facts that are waaaay off, sometimes to the point of not even being the same thing. Input the info yourself if you want accuracy. This is the only drawback for me: the amount of time to see all the other people put the wrong info in or most likely didn’t even bother to and then have to go put it in myself, researching online and comparing with the actual label on the bottle.

Great App! But has some issues

I am so grateful for this app! I mean seriously this is necessary for everyone no matter if your optimally healthy or working on it. Stop counting calories and track your nutrition is what I tell everyone. I have never counted calories and never will and this app just proves to be an indicator of why as it lists deficiencies from simple tracking. Here are the issues I have with the app:
1. Always crashing and freezing- it's annoying and halts me from recommending it as I know the average person is not going to have the patience to use it especially if you get them to stop counting calories.
2. Lack of foods in database and common healthy foods brands especially for vegans and vegetarians. There should be some option to input products from websites or something that will allow it to be easier to input nutritional info.
Nevertheless I use the app and paid for full version as it extremely necessary and there is nothing else's like it from my searches. Please fix bugs and add more foods or tool so I can recommend to everyone. If you are into holistic health, trying to heal yourself from common ailments leaky gut, candida, acne, hormonal imbalance, thyroid issues, PCOS, endometriosis, roscea, ezcema, or anything else and you are serious GET THE APP and stop buying more supplements. Use this to figure out what exactly you need and stop wasting more money guessing or listening to what worked for others. Much love ❤️
