Let me start by saying just the idea of a Support app already deserves like four stars. It's so much more practical to just open the app instead of having to get to a computer and go to the Support website! One thing I think should be added, though, is a kind of FAQ with basic troubleshooting steps so we can try to fix it ourselves before needing to talk to someone. But anyway, not having a FAQ isn't that big of a deal, because when using the online chat, I was answered in like one minute! The answers were very helpful, and my issue was solved... The only problem being, one of the steps (luckily the final one) had me rebooting my phone, and, once I did, there was no way to get back to that chat! I'm sure people could just open another case and give them the reference number for the case before rebooting, but really all I wanted to do was thank the guy who helped me and let him know it worked... It's a shame I can't do that.
Let me start by saying I hate contacting any service provider/ retailer if it can be avoided. I have three children ages 4,2and 1 and being on the phone can be really taxing for everyone involved. That said when my brand new phone didn't work the same as the phone I had before it I need help. The ability to chat with someone without worrying about how loud my kids were and not having to have them on speaker phone and doing all the trial runs on my phone was so helpful and the representative helping me was patient and took me through different gateways until it was resolved. I am not technologically savvy by any means and they were so helpful. Will keep this app and stop wasting my time troubleshooting online.
Cut me off while I was typing
The support rep kept asking me if I was still there and assumed I didn't need any help and closed the chat which cut me off while I was typing my message. Apple, why didn't your system notify your support staff member that I was "typing...?" I couldn't even finish my thought. And I couldn't very well stop in the middle and expedite another message in front of the one I was currently typing to tell him I was still there and still in need of help. He cut me off in the middle of explaining my problem, causing yet another problem. Apple has for a long time held a precedent of excellence in customer support, until now. Much like the amount of bugs and level of incompleteness in native software, ever since Tim Cook took over as CEO quality contro (which had been Apple's specialty) has gone down the toilet!
